Some one else mentioned this, but I actually thought he won more than his share in the air yesterday and held up the ball really well when played into his feet
He did well under the high ball, he won a fair few but then couldn't release a pass to another one of our players.
Without Ifill, our main tactic needs to be to exploit the wings, and the whip in a cross to the middle. The reason this didn't work all the time yesterday was that Bertos had a shocker, either losing the ball before he could make a cross, or the cross itself being rubbish. The next problem was, whenever Lochy or Sanchez made a decent cross, there wern't enough players in the box waiting for the header. This was where D-Mac excelled for us, he was tall and strong enough to win the ball and get a shot on target.

Also, Princess Leijer cleaning up Greenacre like that was nothing short of a disgrace!

Oh how much I would have loved to be that close to yell abuse at Archie when he danced around in his celebration.patrick4782011-10-31 14:17:48

What I also want to know is why we applaud the likes of Siggy from the field when he's just made a reckless decision and got himself sent off, effectively costing us the game?
This. I understood why we clapped them in the last game, because neither red card was deserved. However today, it was a clear red card, and in no way something we should be applauding.
That has to be one of the dumbest things I have ever read. Lets excuse Muscat for his one moment of craziness as well. Hell lets excuse every red card ever given because the player played committed all game and it was one moment of craziness which is forgivable. As others have said, he was on a yellow ALREADY. It wasn't one moment, it was just a plain dumb footballer.
Read the score board. That cost us the game. Not forgiveable

Unfortunately this. We would have been able to walk away with at least a point otherwise.
Yellow Whever Whanganui
My pick!
+100
Anyone else means Ricki would need to change his preferred tactic

To add to that, considering how thin our squad is, we are now even more in the poo. You think he would learn from when he popped Adrian Leijer and couldn't get back in the team and probably cost him game time at the WC but I guess not. Two things you'll never call SigmUnd is smart and disciplined.

We beat the Tards 1 - 0 for the period of the match when we had 10 men so not sure I follow your theory that we "lost" due to going down to 10...C-Diddy2011-10-31 16:20:51

Fuck this stupid game
As much as commentators say it the daniel goal was a goal. The rule is that the gk must have two hands on the ball, it doesnt matter if they have one hand in ful control, it has to be both.
You are incorrect.
A goalkeeper is considered to be in control of the ball:
while the ball is between his hands or between his hand and any surface
(e.g. ground, own body)http://www.fifa.com/mm/document/affederation/generic/81/42/36/lawsofthegame_2010_11_e.pdf
I wish it was a goal too but I can't argue with the laws of the game.

Hey, stop quoting from the rules of the game.
It's..it's inconvenient.

I place more blame on Brown and Smith. Brown lost possession, and he jogged back to try win it back, While Smith was caught ball watching. Those mistakes put Siggy in a 2-1 situation
Fuck this stupid game
My general issue is that people want to forgive him for so much and overlook so many of his short comings because he plays hard. In fairness to the players, we have no idea who plays committed and its not really fair for any of us to call into question a players committment. I guess if I was one of the Phoenix players and the level with which I played at or was committed was questioned, I would be pretty pissed off.
That said, he has brain lapses ALOT but because he plays hard, we should forgive him. Its funny how other players make brain lapses, we don't forgive them because they do not have the outward appearance of playing with such perceived committment. We will blame Brown for that penalty because he didn't run back hard but because SigmUnd plays hard and thought he was back at Sumner playing rugby, thats forgivable. See how it works? If SigmUnd wasn't so 'committed' would we forgive him? If you say yes well then all your arguments go out the window for bandwagonning a player. If you say no then thats just hypocrasy but then I guess blaming Brown has just proved that.
Unfortunately, he just does not learn. I wonder if he was at any other club in the league, we would be so blind to this and if other coaches would be so lenient. We unfortunately have no one else and when we did (McKain) SigmUnd lost his place.
The facts remain. We lost by one goal. That one goal to go ahead was a penalty. That penalty was conceeded by SigmUnd. All the shoulda/coulda/woulda does not change that fact regardless how you want to argue it.
