Danny Hay would not be a good option for the team,  he is not a team player.  he only thinks of himself.  Never rated him,  the best thing the Phoenix have done so far is not sign him.
Sorry, but Danny Hay's an injury prone donkey who bailed on the Knights when it all got too hard.  Last player we need.

I agree

that was a sh*t game all round for phoenix, bar shane smeltz he played awesome..there was no structure just boot the ball upfield and let them attack us again and again...worst performance from the boys yet we usually are a little unlucky or our defence sh*ts it self but adelaide were the only team that shouldve won that game..very dissapointed, hope its a one off

You're just repeating what was said in the article earlier today/yesterday. I doubt you even knew who Danny Hay was before that article.

But the rest well lets start at the back. Big mistake plaing Patson ahead of Mossy whose played well considering the lack of defence. I'm a fan of Lockhead but tonight neither him or Christie pushed up like they have done in previous games. There's no pace in the back four, how many times have we been beaten by a simple through ball!!
Lia is average. The midfield hasn't worked together or fallen back when appropriate. And when ever we are going forward we are always facing the wrong way and playing it back then a wild ball over the top. Aloisi is very over rated he's slow and lacks skill.
<snip the rest>

You were making sense until the Aloisi comment then you lost it totally

Nah i agree with him Aloisi hasn't shown anything special i'd much rather have someone like Johnson in the heart of the midfield Aloisi does look too slow but it's up to Ricki whether he bites the bullet and drops his captain or not.

As for the game, well, the first 3 minutes were alright...

As someone said to me yesterday players like Daniel, Felipe, Elrich and Smeltz must be so frustrated at their defence who have given them zero support so far this season. Not a clean sheet yet and an average of two goals conceded per game is very poor. Ricki must sign a quality centre back or perhaps even right back because Christie is going back to his usual self and O'Dor doesn't cut it i'm afraid.

Next week, i think we will nick a draw in Perth, maybe even a smash and grab win if we're lucky, but the defence will have to step up big time cause Perth are scoring goals in recent weeks so they won't be lousy up front.

Still no matter what, PHOENIX TILL I DIE!!

Agree, I've been disappointed with Aloisi all year. Glad that Ricki finally took him off. If someone is your highest earner, and he is outside Elrich, and your leader, and he is, you expect more from him. His distribution has been poor and his lack of pace is being exposed.

But again, defending begins from the front and if the likes of Felipe, Daniel and Elrich can't be bothered to turn on their heels and track back what hope does our defence have?

It's time they all got a size 10 up their arse and got some desperation into their play. We are now playing cup football every week if we want to make the top 4 or barring that just winning games by being more desperate, more hungry than other sides.

I've got to question Rikci's tactics away from home. Playing Felipe, Daniel and Elrich is asking for trouble. Where's swamping the midfield and hitting on the counter? I know he was hindered by a new centreback pairing but FFS - we brought this on ourselves.

It's just like watching Spurs ....

Aloisi is allright, just had a mear today, possibly due to homecoming and emotions riding etc. But your right about the lack of hunger, we need to want to win more than the other team.

Benching a few players maybe the right sort of size 10's they need.

I say tackle him in the face.

aloisi's been by passed  - it's not entirely his fault.

he's being over crowded in a narrow midfield five and has spent most of the season playing alongside another holding midfielder.  i have heaps of other observations about what is affecting hisgame, but in short he's not being helped by the general midfield confusion and having to play a little deeper than usual because of a less than adequate defence.

earlier in the season he was covering good yards and he had passing options.

DOUBT ALL YOU WANT, i've been following Danny Hay since the Kingz and hes always impressed.

It's not so much his ability - it's his atitude. He thinks he's bigger than the team - and tries to distance himself when things aren't going well.

Ask anyone that has played with him for any stretch of time and they all have no respect for him. He is cancerous.

No, but ask the majority, Danny Hay has not been that impressive for a NZ based side. Someones already pointed that out before me

I am going to focus on the Smeltz. class, again. lochead solid. elrich handy at times. a few decent corners from daniel. not much else!

lets make sure we earn our right to moan and berate the team by sticking with them and getting behind them on nov 17.

As for Garry's complete rubbish ...

The ffa gave wellington the licence on hoping we would only finish last by ten points and avg 4,000 crowds. we are f#@king miles ahead of their wildest dreams. 4-1 or not.

Dude, it's all good defending a player, but you are the only one defending him or his ability. We are better off without him - even if he is better in terms of his ability than the likes of Old

poses the question really doesn't it...

should we select teams based purely on ability?

i would suggest that too many teams in this country have in the past been selected for reasons other than ability.  quite often your best players are utter pr1cks.

Sigmund is a hard-working passionate player that puts his body on the line, maybe guilty of over-committing at times but wouldnt you rather that than some of the defending weve seen from our backs this year?

Old out - Sigmund In

Clebo back to brazil, an experienced 26-30 year old centre back in.

Of course we are, I never said the crowds were bad, its now second biggest game in town to the canes.
As for finishing last, another month like the last and thats on the cards.
Aand if it come to us or an aussie franchise in two years, why wouldnt they screw us??

Che had issues with Ricki during that visit to South America so I would be surprised if he was considered. And, in my opinion, he is too slow to foot in the league. I would say that we would need to look outside of NZ if we were to sign another defender - unless we got Sigmund, but he is unproven at this level, and what we need now is a seasoned player to partner Dodd.

Although, I though O'Dor actually played OK tonight

Yeah, give them credit, Adelaide are a fine team and in really good form.  Pantelis, Dodd and Burns have ripped a few teams up this year, including Melbourne.  Maybe they didn't let the Nix play rather than the Nix being rubbish.

How Dean Gordon got away with it last year, I don't know.
