The Protest Thread - 17th February and 25th March

I love how there's plenty of people involved in thread making comments of what should have happened and criticising it; yet the truth is only 3 people felt passionate about the situation enough to actively do something with their discontent. Whether I agree or disagree with how you went about it, I want to say biggups to the three of you for following through.  I hope the next protest generates more traction.

Thank you. It will be going ahead and everyone is welcome for a peaceful protest at the 10 minute mark by going over to Aisle 10 and underneath the TV Camera range. although I believe there is a big flag that would probably need to be up down closer to the pitch as to not interfere with any TV coverage.

All I wanted to do is send a message to our club owners and a sponsor. And remember, the players and subs can easily hear us so a few zone songs etc to encourage the team would be heard. This is not a protest about the team, players or coach.

NZ Dave, I can't ask on the other thread as it is locked, but on the 14th you posted a letter you wrote to the Nix Management.

It was a letter that raised very important issues and was structured in a way which warranted a reply.

Have they replied?

If all those whom appear passionate turn up then it will be successful.

Guys all you have to do when Dome turns up and asks you "is there anything I can do for you" is use your imagination!!

Doesn’t the Yellow Fevers official contact with the club read things like the Forum?

I have updated in that thread.

I can't comment out what was said to the protesters but I would assume the club coming down and talking to them was at least part of the response to the issues raised. I'll leave it to LG/Hatter to share what was said in responses to their concerns.

In terms of the more general stuff I think there already have been some improvements you've seen in the comms to members going out before press releases etc. I would watch this space and see what else comes about.

Read the response from Dome in the other thread.

Serious question - were you offended by the flippant reply to your letter?

Seemed ok to me since the last line of The letter said it would be discussed in more detail during next round of meetings.

Look back on this thread Big fella and you will see other posts the same. They were not arrogant and neither was my post

If you couldn't get off your ass and protest then why should you know what Dome  said

If you are actually interested and believe in the issues then go next time and you might hear some answers

Others also asked, they haven't shared it and if they wanted to they probably would have by now

The Protest Elite should be more transparent!

As an out of towner it'd be nice to have a general gist of what went down (to be fair, I think LG has to a degree). I mean what's the harm in sharing this info?

I agree with JV on this, surely those that protested would want the rest of us to know what the outcome was? Or are we all about keeping things from our brothers and sisters in Nix fandom?

No offence but that's ridiculous. If I acted with that described attitude in my dealings with the club imagine how furious people would be - and rightly so. Luckily most people are not of the same mind as you.

There are many reasons people are unable to get info direct from the source whether it be location or personal commitments. To suggest that people have to "step up" in order to have the right to simply ask for info is something I hope never becomes the attitude of the majority around here.

If the protesters would rather keep that info to themselves that is their call but it certainly isn't your place to belittle people for asking about it.

Dave with all due respect as you seem a nice guy and balanced in your views, Patrick was at the location and apart from beating his own drum, had no personal commitments.

He made a conscious decision not to attend and apart from questioning LG about his statement that the area was roped off (when it wasn't) , didn't contribute

He was also asked to support the thing and chose not to do so

If LG or the other two want to tell him then that's cool

The fact they haven't however illustrates that perhaps if he was interested in the issues and the response then he needed to be there.

Hatter himself said a few pages ago you needed to be there when asked.

If one was not at the location (as I wasn't as I am in Auckland) and you actually believe in the issues and why they did what they did, you could message LG

I'm sure he would then share it with you

Sorry Patrick but not sure how you can even attempt to compare what Dave does and the protest. As i understand Dave is tasked to discuss with the Phoenix issues that the may brought to his attention by various members of YF and report back on any outcomes.

LG posted a protest thread outlining the reasons he felt this protest should go ahead and asking for people to joim him. The result was 2 people joined him despite others suggesting they support his motives and would take part.Yes i understand due to location xome who may have joined were unable to do so.

Just why you and others think you are owed a brief on what David spoke about im afraid i just dont get.

Lets face it its not as if YF stuff is openly shared with forums on a regular basis.

We have the dates and reasons for the protest. If no one really wants to discuss outcomes from the protests that's fine, but close the thread. Sticky it to the top of the forum so people can see the info and join in if they want.

Yeah this is getting stupid. Patrick asked a question, those who organised the protest said they don’t want to answer it. That’s all fine. Not sure why others need to get involved or why it’s turned into a big thing.

Can we get the topic back on track to the protest? Otherwise I think Christo is right and I may need to lock the thread (and sticky it so the protest info stays at the top).

I'm well past the protest stage now.

I'm at the stage where the Phoenix have plenty to do to make me renew my annual subscription (plus god knows how many kids subscriptions)  after 10 years of being a member.

I hope they don't need to see me in aisle 12 doing a conga to realise that.

Close the thread.

We had a twenty minute discussion with David Dome, we told him our concerns, he took them onboard, he gave us his opinions & they were received with gratitude. But as David Dome knows all three of us, he probably said things in a different way than he would of to a larger audience.

The best way to get information from a protest, is to join in the protest. But you are trying to get the thread locked so that there will be less people at the next protest. Why bother locking the thread, are you afraid that more people will join the protest? Why is that a bad thing? Surely a larger protest would be better?

We know that there is a lack of balls from the Fever Elite, so they won’t join it, but, for the Joe Average supporters of the WELLINGTON Phoenix, this is a way to get your point across.

I hope you will join us on the 25th, or even on the 17th in Auckland, then you can get feedback from David Dome, if he chooses to talk to us again!
