Yeah I wasn't at the last game either so lucky I keep mine on me.
I may email someone about it just so they can keep us members in the loop. it seems the easiest way to do it.

I lost my student ID sometime before exams last month. funnily enough even Massey university accepted my drivers license as ID in leiu of my student ID for exams. Unfortunately even explaining to the gate staff that I had to use a student ID to buy my season pass and showing them other forms of ID wasn't good enough and they didnt let me in last night.

The rest of the season may be difficult as I dont think you can get new ID's during the summer.

I'm going to try to bring along my exam slip or some other official massey letter and hope they accept it as proof of being a student.

At least you're accepting it and finding another form of ID instead of moaning about it. Clever idea too.

Trust me,when you check IDs you hear so many excuses and stories. You have two options, believe everyone when they say they lost it/their dog ate it/they got robbed/we were using it as a sex toy and its currently getting disinfected,or believe no one. there is no middle ground.

I'm in the same boat, used a passport for my exams - but that ain't going to work as a student ID :P

I will bring my course slips in, if they don't accept it then its just my bad luck I guess.

If they have any common sense they'd accept it coupled with the passport. But who knows with red badge.

Hey, it's not just students, I have a family membership, four tickets for my good lady, our daughter and myself, so we only use 3 or the four tickets.
Wednesday, we got interrogated by the Gate police as to why we were using only two tickets. Where are the kids? you have family tickets?
She's at home, it's  school night you moron, I thought.

I'm seriously thinking that the only benefit of season tickets is not having to queue to buy tickets, yippie.

I guess they haven't worked out that low crowd numbers means less money at the gate. Picking on those that are attending the games might not be the best tactic.

Might forward my cv to red badge and tell them I'll sort their staff I like a good challenge.

Do you have any reason to think that wouldn't be in this season's Ts&Cs? I would imagine that is pretty standard language for any concession tickets sold anywhere.

Rang Ticktek to find out how to go about proving to stadium junta that my student ID was valid @ time of purchase but i have since lost it and given study year is over cant get a new one.

Tickitek today stated that Student ID will continue to be checked but if you don't have it they will still let you in!!

Had this question also a few weeks back.....
my kids are usually through the turnstiles way before me and my husband usually meets me in there so we rarely go in together! Must remember to chain ourselves together next time.

the biggest issue that i have been pointing out, is that the common practice for the past seasons is that they havnt checked ids or anything. Its fine that they are checking, and I applaud it.

But they needed a heads up i think just as they havn't been checking for the past seasons, so lots of members wouldn't have expected it.

A heads up would have been more professional I feel.

aitkenmike, your energy will be better put if you can bring new and more paying spectators. This will bring badly needed cash to WP club.

Are the junta at the turnstiles going beyond their duties in interrogating people using family passes, kids using kids tickets etc etc. Sounds rather obvious to many but obviously not obvious to these power carzy junta! They will make sure that even less paying peope will come to WP games. A ploy by WP's enemy (enemies) to make sure that Terry's endeavour doesn't surface for fresh air or survival or profitability?? The junta needs education now!

If you get caught without ID now do they make you purchase a whole new ticket or allow you just to pay the difference? When one of my mates got sprung without ID the first time round he had to buy a new ticket and was told a 'pay the difference' option wasn't available. I've been asked for ID. Not a problem. I think it's a good thing they're finally sorting this issue out although perhaps they should be more accommodating with other sources of ID if you don't have a school one. Last night I whipped out the ID before scanning my ticket and the Red Badge guy just laughed and said your fine mate. JanelleRT2010-11-25 21:15:51

What a load of rubbish!

Do you seriously think many people will go "I was so offended that they checked me for ID that I'm never going back"?

You're either mad,or attempting to troll.

If you're a child, you're unlikely to have any form of ID. Too young for drivers license. A large child may be forced to pay as an adult, oh the drama!
Permalink Permalink

If they're asking for ID from children too young to have it then they really are a bit stupid. Anyone at college would normally have ID and anyone 12 and under generally don't look like they're 16 and over.

Still can't believe they're being so stupid about family passes. Does each ticket you get differentiate between child and adult? Or is the problem that they are the same,so they think you're passing 2 of them off to other adults?

If it's the latter then perhaps that needs to be looked at for next season. If it's the former...then they really are a thick bunch at red badge.

I agree with some of the sentiment, we all complained like hell at the outrage of adults using kids tickets to get into matches.

We demanded the useless red badge team do something, anything, about it. Even something as simple as chave the light turn yellow instead of green, and then checking their ID.

What a fabulously simple idea, we said, how retarded they are for not doing it.

And now they do, you wish they didn't? Maybe you should use children's tickets if you want to spend your time whining like one.

I would suggest that any ideas, like the very good photo season pass, be given to the Nix management now, so they can look at implementing concepts next season.

Sorry I draw the line at getting hassled because I only used 2 of my four tickets. Do I really need to bring the kids to a late night (school night) game so that my tickets are valid. If this is now the defacto arrangement for games at the stadium, I'll spend my $800+ somewhere else and watch the games on tv.

I agree, that is riddiculous, and shows the intelligence of Red Badge. My rant is directed at Students grizzling.

I dont think there was any students grizzling. Personally I'm a little annoyed that all of a sudden they are asking for ID at the gate, particularly when it is hard to get replacement ID's during the summer - but I'm hoping they show some common sense and will accept other forms of 'ID' that prove I still study.

That said, there are 35,000 seats at the stadium, and I don't see them all filled - I also don't beleive there is a marginal loss on student tickets - I know its been debated before, but surely its better to have any tickets sold and bums on seats rather than people staying home cos its cheaper to watch on TV...

no djtim it is not ok! Red badge need to be told to accept any idea that shows who you are and your age, if you're a student you should have a valid student ID, if you don't then you're not a student are you! if you're under 15 and therefore a child, I think it's fairly obvious, but then you're likel;y to be accompanied by an adult, no???

Sounds like really poor judgement (by red badge).  You buy a family season pass knowing full well that sometimes people won't be able to make all the games.  Also family members might arrive at diferrent times (e.g. work commitments).

The only problem for red badge/ticketek is that the passes only specify "family" - not if the pass holder is an adult or child.

We haven't been hassled yet (as we have arrived altogether) but in the future I certainly do not expect the Spanish Inquisition.

Yep, and THAT is surely not the family pass holder's fault. It's a lack of forethought and planning on the club, the league and/or Tickitek's part. There are a number of ways that that issue could be addressed (not this season with the passes already printed) but security hassling the pass holders is not the answer.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

Seems like a good way to drive people away imo. Just at the time they need more people through the gate.

The Phoenix themselves said recently that they didn't consider that it had much of an effect on their bottom line so I am not quite sure where the overzealous policing of it has come from?

Tickitek today stated that Student ID will continue to be checked but if you don't have it they will still let you in!!

Same happened to me.

Me and my girlfriend both have student season passes. We renewed them at the start of the season through our friend who has always sorted them out for us. We are no longer students now but at no point has anyone asked for any ID when purchasing the renewal, so it just got left.

Since they have been checking ID's now and we don't have any student ID's I thought fair enough about time they started checking anyway and I rang the ticketek number for memberships, more than happy to pay the difference and sort it out.

The woman said that she would refund us and then re-charge us the adult rate and send us our new passes out, plus issue paper tickets for Saturdays game. Sweet I thought....

About an hour later I got another call from her saying that she won't be processing the new passes and that ID will continue to be checked but they can't stop you coming in!!

If I get to the gate on Saturday and get turned away I am not going to come to any more home games, f*** them. If they expect me to pay $34 each for tickets, no chance. I tried to sort it out and they didn't want my money. It is the system at fault, if you allow a loophole for people to exploit then they will and if you are checking ID's and catch people with the wrong type of ticket you can't then say "no you cant come in" if your also saying "no you cant sort it out and get a new ticket either". I'll go home and watch it on the telly then.

They should just accept it for this season and let people in anyway and make the steps to implement a more properly policed system next season. Not issuing passes at the start of the season without showing your student ID at a ticketek store or by a photocopy would solve the issue for good.

Ahh, yes, you can. That's why they have terms & conditions ;)

Cheap arses who are knowingly ripping off the system, getting caught, zero sympathy.
