Would be a good idea but I'd be surprised if it would happen.

Anyway, knowing Ticketek, there's no guarantee you'd get the right photo on your card anyway

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

What I really want are those yellow Nix neck straps/lanyards to hold the season passes in.

So let me get this straight. Now theyre checking for ID...but letting you in even if you don't have it. Fail, massive fail.

As for the family passes having "family" on every ticket, that is a massive oversight from the nix/ticketek.

You can understand that it is possible to hand the 2 childs tickets over to some adults - but red badge are showing no common sense by hassling people asking where their kids are...that is actually one of the stupidest things i have heard someone do.

They kind of just have to accept that it is their fault, and it is unreasonable to expect anybody to bring their kids to every game, and keep them with them as they go through the gates. Let it go for this season, and not make the same mistake with the passes next season.

But letting students through without ID - sigh, what a back down.

Let me offer a quick equation

Happy Fans = Ticket(2 adults 2 kids) + drinks + food + doughnuts + parking = $260 approx per game

Unhappy fans = Stadium/Team gets SFA

ie.
Unhappy fans = Pizza + dozen beers + soft drinks = $68 per game

Multiple this by the number of fans hassled fans.

A few stadium staff asking for ID is not going to drive people away.

The only ones I can see not being happy are those with family passes..so hopefully they sort things out for that.

But seriously...you're being dramatic.

what discipline of maths is this exactly?

Possibly, but I think the point is, it's not just the ticket price that gets lost if fans don't attend.
There is a knock effect for the food vendors too.

But a few security checking ID isn't exactly going to have a massive Knock on effect of people not coming to game,as you suggest.

So you Couldve saved yourself the time of working out the (very complex) math.

I object to being ID'd as I buy my ticket at Ticketek, while also getting charged a $5 service fee for giving them the privilege of IDing me, and then being ID'd again as I enter the stadium. As a student, and I clearly look like a student, I dont see why I should have to waste my time showing my ID more than once.

Also, theres going to be a period of one month between when my college ID expire and when I get my Uni ID. My college ID expires at the start of February, but uni doesnt start until March. Does this mean that I will be classed as an adult for this period of time? I'm sure I can explain the situation to the Ticketek salesperson, but I'm pretty sure the Red Badge staff won't be having a a bar of it, and will instantly eject me.

So thats why being ID'd at the gate will deter me from attending games.

How can you clearly look like a student? Its impossible. 15 and under is a child, anyone over 16 could be a student...you can drop out of school at age 16. Impossible for security to tell that you are clearly a student.

Also you can buy tickets online without I'D,how are security to know you have already shown it?

You can also have someone with ID buy the ticket at ticketek, then hand it off to someone who isn't a student. Again, how is security supposed to know you were the one who bought the ticket?

Suck it up,and dont be so precious. It takes 2 seconds to show it to the guy.

Patrick478 if you object so much to showing your ID then buy a full priced ticket.

I don't object to showing it ONCE to buy the ticket. However, it's the having to show ID twice for the same purchase that annoys me. Its the same things with the trains, I buy a student 10 trip ticket, then need to show my ID every time I use the ticket. I understand that I can offload my ticket to someone else, but surely having that person at the game at a student rate is better than not having them at the game at all?

Your talking about one thing then relating it to something completely different to try and make your original point sound valid.

People aren't going to be so offended by having toshow their I'D at the gate that they'll stop turning up.

So its not a matter of "having that person at a student rate being better than none at all" it is "should they check your I'D at the gate" to which the answer is yes,for the reasons given above.

Well, I am a student, and I lost my student ID, so if I have to show a student ID at the gate, I will stop turning up. Along with all the friends I drag along every game.

There are ways around that as other have suggested. It's not their fault you lost it,and you would be very much a minority of students who have lost it.

If they don't accept the alternatives then you would have a right to moan. Which knowing red badge...you probably will

You would also (I hope) have the option of paying the difference, and I'm doubting a couple of extra dollars will put you off going to games. As not going will make the money you've already spent on a pass worthless.Tegal2010-11-26 17:01:28

Don't worry about it Patrick these forums are full of people who spend their whole lives on these forums abusing their fellow fans for their own self gratification. It's no wonder home attendance and support is dropping when you come on here and make a valid point and get shot down for it.

(bring on the quote)

They're probably the types who will go stuff their face at McDonalds later but if they get 2 big macs with their Big Mac Meal by mistake they won't say anything.....they'll exploit the mistake and eat it anyway.
Yet they'll abuse people for being allowed to get a cheaper season ticket without anybody checking. What do you expect? Everyone to ring up ticketek and say" hey, here's an extra $120, It's your mistake, I don't need to pay it, but here ya go anyway"

Even fans who have tried to correct the mistake, willing to pay the extra money have been told by Ticketek that you will get in anyway and have not processed the new adult rate tickets.

Excuse me,I think you're the one making an incorrect generalization here.

Some very reasoned points have been put forward.

Regarding ticketek: I think they're just being lazy. It'll be very interesting what happens this weekend regarding students,I predict a lot of rightfully unhappy people being turned away after being told by ticketek they'd be let in.Tegal2010-11-26 17:16:56

the students in the UK are doing something about this issue

The "fees" they are talking about is the cost of replacement for Student IDs to get into Phoenix games, while the "free education" is all about getting a discounted chance to watch Brownie school some Victory defenders.

Students of NZ - follow their lead and smash up the Beehive (although remember, dropping fire extinguishers onto police is wrong)

All I do is make the stuff I would've liked
Reference things I wanna watch, reference girls I wanna bite
Now I'm firefly like a burning kite
And yousa fake fuck like a fleshlight

Okay, having looked back at what I said the other day, I realise that some of the comments I made were me just venting for the sake of it. Red Badge should have every right for checking peoples IDs at the gate to make sure they have paid the correct amount. Now that the majority of fans know that this is going to occur, it shouldn't be a problem at future games. However Ticketek could put a little note on child and student tickets stating something like "Student ID must be presented at the gate to make this ticket valid", just so everyone is aware of the situation.
