Top 5 most pointless....?

So following on from a comment on the match day thread about pointless signings, it got me looking for the all time players list (thanks Wikipedia). Invariably we get asked questions like 'So who is your top 5........' and after you throw out your list, a name pops up you forgot.

Edit - too late I did.

Clarke was a human victory cigar. 4 appearances on the bench, 2 wins, 2 draws. Subbed on in the last minute of both wins. Not quite pointless, I guess.

I don't think it is fair to include Season 1 players. Or is it ?

I remember every single player on that list except Clarke. I actually had to google him.

Higgens was a big and reasonable enough Goalkeeper, What about Spider - Reece Crowther? tastey Mrs tho.

Unfair to include Clarke just because Ricki didn't know what to do with him 

I'd be tempted to include Spoonley season 1. Not cause he wasn't any good, just because it was pointless to sign a third keeper after Moss and Paston. He could have been added as an injury replacement (like all the others) when Paston was injured.

P.S. I am running a complete blank on Lovemore playing for us. Was he an injury replacement?

Thanks to BT having a loud word in RH's ear - the old boy network shown up. After which RH had even less faith in ASB players stepping up.

Lovemore was actually decent when he came on, if I remember correctly.

Don't disagree with that. Just seemed a bit strange after looking for an import DM for months, we pick up Riera from Auckland.

The club surely got something from the others, however brief.

No it has to be Ricardo Clarke - the Panamanian.  Not only did it not make sense, not only was he terrible, not only was he a 19 year old foreigner, it was also right around the time we were signing young kiwis and establishing the FSE and then we go and get a young foreign guy instead!  I would love to know the inside story behind that loan...I think Ricki said it was a favour to an agent

YES - signing him putting our national team goalkeeper who Ricki also coaches behind him, genuinely bizarre

Also Elliot - Herbert had no real intention to play a game where the ball went through central midfield and he looked a fish out of water.

Enlighten me as to how an injury replacement is a pointless signing? Don't they take up a spot on the roster...that's their job (ie. Not pointless)
