I see he has left Haladas. Hate it when people don't specify whether they are guessing or whether it's a genuine rumour heard

A Polish guy pronounces Michal Kopczynski

The 'y' is tricky, like a Russian yeri.

Actually it is easier than you think. The "y" is the same sound that Kiwis make for "i" when pronouncing "fish" or "milk".

Does not compare to the Aussie pronounciation of fish or milk (where the "i" sound is like last vowel in "Kopczyński")

What tends to be less obvious for English speakers is the "ń" which indicates a soft sound, identical to Spanish ñ in "mañana" ("tomorrow") or to the sound nh in Portuguese as in "manha" ("morning").

So Kop-ch'n-skee?

I don't understand the soft sounding n, because I thought ñ was more of a 'ny'uh sound, but if the pronunciation I wrote is about right, I'll be very happy!

Adds depth - but I don't think he gets a start ahead of Burns or Krishna... and I'm not sure either of these three are most effective playing centrally (perhaps Krishna?)

Burns needs to improve on last season before he gets a start. Missed lots of chances, couldn't beat his man. Talented player, off form, could be temporary, could be a career winding down a little early.

Tamati? One good looking GK to replace the one we just lost?

Considering Burns and Krishna will likely play in the front two, possibly with another import there too, David Williams would actually be okay as fourth choice.

his last season in the A League was good, prior not so much. It depends which one cones back after Europe.

Has been playing for Haladas who play in the Hungary NBI, the top league, they have been a midtable team in the league for the three years he has been there. He played 14 games for 2 goals in 2015-16, 25 games for 11 goals in 2016-17 and 27 games for 7 goals last year.

It looks like he's been okay in Europe for the last 2 seasons. I don't think Rudan would sign him on with the intention of starting him though, in which case I'm fine with it. I don't mind him coming off the bench, lest we forget last season we had Watson coming off the bench as an impact sub. A lot of you don't seem to rate Williams and to a certain extent I don't either, but he's no worse than a lot of other second/third choice A League forwards. Also seems that he has improved since his early Melbourne days

Surely they would not do a presser for Williams, I would just quietly bring him into the squad and hoped no one noticed... Shhh, its ok he's a squaddie...

Don't know if Coked up Butters is much better....

Maybe a press conference for both?

I can't believe Nichols is only 29. Seems to have been in the league - and the headlines - for years!

Williams and Nichols. I feel ill.

Still better players than Parkhouse and others we had to rely on at different times last season.

In terms of the A-league, Nichols is a slightly above average player who has always been dangerous when he's played against us. He provides Rudan with some options and creates competition within the squad. Is he better than WeeMac for instance?  Yes, he is - particularly if Rudan can get him engaged.  It would be an ok signing for mine.  Williams, meh.

Fresh start for both. Gotta support them if they don the yellow and black too. I'm not a fan of either (Williams as a player, Nichols as a person), but I trust Rudan and I don't think he would get them in if we could find better. Both aren't guaranteed starters too. Nichols is a cod and we know that, but he's more of a cod to play against than play with, so maybe it could work out

Is Williams an out-and-out striker? Last season we didn't really have a direct replacement for Kaludjerovic as a number 9, when his goals dried up for him, Plan B would have been to revert to playing our not-a-strikers. If he's supposed to be our back-up striker behind an import striker I don't think its a bad move at all. He would be the best striking option we would have had coming off the bench in at least the past few seasons (Probably better than no one, and Watto respectively?)

Walliams was ok in Little Britain but Matt Lucas was better

weeMac isn't a complete cod though.

Williams has never really been an out and out striker. More a winger who doesn't score much.

He can play anywhere across the forward line. First and foremost he is supposed to be a striker, but is often deployed at right and left wing. can play in a two man partnership or as part of a fluid front three. He's not brilliant, but maybe could be decent of the bench with Krishna and Burns as a dynamic front three with fluid positioning.

Nichols is a cod, but if he's our cod then he's the best cod in the league.

At the moment if Rudan wants it Im good with it.

Maybe it's psych warfare. They look at Nichols and  Williams and laugh, and Burns, Krishna and Singh do them like a dinner.

Hopefully good competition for places. I think none of those guys are guaranteed starters at the moment, but all of them could win a game for us.

You can also look at it this way.  In the upcoming season we won't be hearing much from Bozza and Slater on how we do not contribute much to the league.  For me that's a bonus, especially if it stays that way.

Actually, getting outplayed quite a bit these days

Found this. I know it's a highlight reel and won't show the flaws in his game, but he looks like a real hard worker with a lot of energy. Thought this would be mainly goals and assists, but half this video is of him dropping deep to get the ball to start an attack or tearing up the pitch sprinting back to help defend. Looks bloody quick, also seems to fancy a shot from outside the box. His passing looks good too, there's some brilliant cross pitch long balls in the vid. Don't know much about the Hungarian league but doesn't seem like there's a substantial gulf in quality between that and the A-League. Looks better than the Williams of old, anyway.

Okay, so I'm a Polish guy with a similarly difficult name to pronounce.

Here is how I would phonetically spell it out to Anglesize it:

'Mi-hau Kop-cheen-ski'

It's not a hundred per cent, but it should be understandable by most.

Cheers
