Transfer Talk - 2018/19 Season

An I right in thinking that have only 7 days now to sign at least 1 new player?
What happens if they fail?

Its never happened before, so no idea the penalties for not having the minimum squad. They would just call one of the academy kids into the office and give him a 6 month deal if needed.

Honestly fine with keeping a small squad - every Way or Nichols we don't have is another 6 figures saved this season, and we have some good youth (Sutton, Ebbinge, Waine, Taci, etc) who while aren't enough for a regular bench spot, are good options for an injury crisis.

Has Ebbinge gone to the US yet?

I am bored of all this transfer rumour silence.

I have an amazing ability to find my way out of mazes. I'm pathological.

How about signing Chris Herd as cover for Rufer/Mandi?

Couldn't cope in Perth or West Sydney. His time as a football player is pretty much done.

He never actually went to Perth so a bit rough on him to say he couldn't cope there!!

Jason Pine said last night there were two new signings rumoured.

Injury cover needed.

New YFF snipers needed.

Club seems to be not as leaky with signings since Rudan started.

I am disappointed in lack of credible transfer speculation here, with only three days to go.

Unconfirmed Watto and Clapham sightings are not enough anymore to keep me awake

Rudan said the signings would be "defense to midfield", so we should be safe unless Watto's remade himself into a wingback.

What are we thinking guys? A turn around in attitude from Howieson or Payne? A healthy TAHW? Gulley and Clapham? A couple of unknown Npl kids? Surely someone knows something

I am leaning towards unknown NPL players. If it were kiwis, they would've likely trialed, and it would have leaked by now.

Sounds like Justin Gulley. According to Rollo's twitter comment.

When asked when he would stop drifting into offside position, Watto would usually look pretty defensive

What's the deal with him? Don't know anything about the domestic league (or much of the a-league out width the nix in fairness).

One of the best defenders in the league, plays for Team Wellington where he's captain - had a short spell at the Nix two seasons ago where he played 8 times. Plays as a right centre back in Team Wellington's back three, but is more comfortable at RB and can definitely do a job in Fenton's role who he's presumably signed to compete with. Made his AWs debut in June this year

Clapham next?

Wonder if he might have signed earlier in the season, but wanted to go to club world cup with Team Wellington.

More likely he was told to work on a couple of areas and come back over Christmas for another trial.

Is he basically an injury replacement for Way? Don't see how a few months, compared to a lifetime of playing and training, will make a big difference - also if it was something that wanted him to work on surely in a full time environment would be better.

I would say we need a reasonable quality cover for Louie in case he gets injured (rather than just suspended for 5 yellows).
