Can't help but feel that this is a bit of a death knell for our club. If we can't even keep young kiwis, when they are counted as imports for other clubs, then what are we even doing?
I could understand losing Rojas; he was at a higher echelon than Ridenton and obviously attractive for a club like MV. I could understand losing Kosta; not much game time. But Ridenton? He's a good player, but not a prodigious talent like Rojas, and he has been getting consistent game time.
Death knell? A bit harsh on Ridenton and the club don't you think. Regardless of some people's low opinion of his talent, the kid was just picked up by this year's grand finalist to take up one of their limited import spots. They clearly place a lot of value of him and have probably given Matt a fairly sizable contract. We should be praising the club's youth systems for being able to develop young players that are wanted by other clubs, that to me is a huge sign the club wants to succeed long-term.
