If Ramon is definetly out of the picture, I'd be open to him taking the AW reins after what's been served up at AW and U20 levels under Hudson.  It could be a refreshing change, maybe the "God Father" could be involved too.

Thats just swapping one anti Nix manager for another.  AW's recruitment be like:

NZF: "Do you dislike the Nix?"

RT: "Yes"

NZF: "Welcome Aboard"

If Kalezic is pronounced 'Kally - Zitch' there's a chance of being creative!

Until the appointment is officially announced, the only Khaleesi I want to see is this one:

Think you should have said his name is pronounced between 0 and 49 seconds. I'm none the wiser for that spiel

Nah, not me. I just posted what Rallis said in his rant. All credit goes to TreeFiddy, he found the name. I only could find the Swiss coach, my google-fu doesn't come close to his.

Cheers bud. Collective effort me thinks <3

Anyone have any more details about what Rallis said in his rant about Ramon? More interesting to me than the NIx ending themselves by going European.

He is also quoted as saying he no longer wants to manage a football team. Sounds like a perfect fit really

doubt NZ \ Oz would provide enough "consulting" opportunities for him to be interested

From the Stockport County Forum ;

108986RE: Ex-County Manager in the A-League

Expand Messages

Rumours abound, that Darije Kalezic is about to become the Head Coach at my very own Wellington Phoenix! I don't recall his magnificent reign at Edgeley Park, so, could the more enlightened amongst you describe his coaching & man management style!!!!!

Cheers from NZ

A man who undoubtedly knows his onions about the game (coached the Belgian league winners, and Ajax), but not a bean about fifth tier English football.

English was his fourth language. Struck me as a decent bloke, shafted by the charlatans running the football club at the time. Wrong man, wrong club, wrong time; but probably a decent coach.

And definitely a coach, rather than a manager. So a bit of a culture shock at a club where the manager has to arrange transfers and negotiate pay deals, sort out players’ domestic problems, deal with the press, make sandwiches and arrange the bus travel (and that was when we were a full time side)

Yeah, probably worth noting that by that stage we were essentially an unmanageable/unmanaged/mismanaged mess.

I would say it is impossible to say whether he was any good or not on the basis that any one of the greatest managers of all time would have looked like an absolute chump dropped into our club at that point. His appointment was stupid, but that wasn’t his fault.

For sure but it makes more sense than any other name. And wild speculation and half baked  rumours are necessary to maintain sanity during the dark winter months

Am I reading too much into it or are Daniel McHardy and Jason Pine intimating it's him in this thread?

But it only makes sense because of what SST said? Wild speculation is what this is, but some are starting to treat it like it's fact...

Dura's comments about people being excited once we find out who it is don't really make sense if it's Kalezic, do they?

Well, it makes sense in that it's a realistic target, who is out of a job, has links to the A League, and has shown a willingness to work outside Europe. Not like Wolf or Di Matteo or Moyes or any of that BS

Who would make people excited that we could get? Dura is always positive - that's probably part of his job.

Well we've had two head coaches (and a couple of interims) and they've both achieved a few decent things. If we're going to have a third we expect him to have some decent skills and bring something to the party. I'm excited tbh.

Sign coach. Announce signings. Have balanced squad. Play some awesome pre-season fixtures. Rip the heck out of the A-league next season! Beat Ernie and Mossy's Jets 3 times too.
