No, sorry. We've struggled to find times to record episodes recently. We're trying to find a time this week to record, but even that might fall through unfortunately.

I know there's usually a silly call and I come on here and make some cheap jibe like "Not much to talk about this week lads" - but any chance we can get some detailed clarity on VAR for the next pod? There were two questionable instances on Monday.

It's getting beyond a joke. Most weeks VAR - not the on-field ref - is directly responsible in completely changing the course of the game. It'd be good to get an explanation from someone who was a VAR ref or even Domey.

I recommend Nick Waldrom to be approached on his views of doing VAR. You all know I'm not his biggest fan but fair dues, he can at least enlighten us all on the what, why, when and where process they must go through. This could be helpful to everyone, myself included because at this stage I am still voting for the VAR out, Goal line technology stays In brigade.
Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!

A two man pod reviews the 4-3 loss to WSW, did the VAR really get the decisions wrong or were the Nix just hamstrung by the process itself? It's the final ISPS Handa Premiership grand final, can Team Wellington pull off a win against Auckland City when it counts?

are you going to be providing useful and insightful facts such as "the Phoenix have never won a game on a Monday". And will little graphics pop up of your important achievements?

Twitch commentary still listenable on link- fastest pod ever

Good job, I wish there was a way to pause the twitch stream as even with your delay you were still 40 seconds ahead of my stream on sky sport now. It was great for building anticipation when we scored but it was pretty shark when they did.

One option could be to commentate with a few minutes delay so that everyone can pause sky or youtube to sync up.

I was enjoying it initially because it was only 2 seconds out of sync with the Sky TV I was watching but the deliberate pause put it way out of time so I had to resort to the Aussie cliché fest. Thanks though. 😀

Sorry guys, but no matter how long you hold out on us (even if it is 433 days), there's no way you're getting 24,105 listeners when you finally drop the next pod.

The Phoenix make a triumphant return to Wellington against the Snakes, and hold on for a nailbiting win against WSW. Can they knock a third team out of finals contention in a row this weekend at Eden Park?

Whoever mentioned that these 2 huge NZ crowds, must be a big physiological boost to Dome, Morrison etc for club morale - makes a very good point.

The Phoenix finally have a team in the W-League, and Ella Reilly re-joins the podcast to discuss all the future benefits that this will have for football in New Zealand. Meanwhile, with the Australia situation continuing to deteriorate, will we get to watch any football this season?

Good pod.

Hopefully the min 7 Aussie player requirement for the Nix W League team is reduced (or done away with completely), when 2 extra teams (Western United & CCM) enter the W League next season. And yes is an Aussie comp after all.

I wouldn't be as gloomy on an A League start. All the talk seems to now be kicking off post the November FIFA window, so a few weeks delay. I reckon by then you will find lots of chat about the VIC-NSW border reopening to vaccinated people. Even discussion of a TT bubble reopening by Xmas, I reckon. Again for the vaccinated only.

AFL have a shark load more cash than the APL, but Victorian team Western Bulldogs the last few weeks have played their playoff games in Tasmania, Brisbane, Adelaide & will be in next weekend's GF in Perth. 9 days before their playoff game in Tassie they played a game in Melbourne sans a crowd. So travelled from VIC to Tassie in August and played 9 days later. They played 4 games in Melb, July-August without crowds.

Their GF opponents also from VIC, Melbourne Demons have played Adelaide, Perth & will be in Perth again for the big dance. 7 days before their playoff game in Adelaide they played in Geelong, Victoria. Prior to this they played Melb, Perth then Melb.

I don't follow AFL enough to know how they have been able to get their VIC teams travelling so much interstate. But I assume vaccinated teams, following strict bio security protocols.

With the VIC teams, when they travel to SA at least it has been a fly in fly out sitch with negative covid tests, and as far as I know, it is not mandatory for teams to be vaccinated.

Are we getting regular pods this season?

The pod is back! It's the dawn of a new season in Wollongong, with the Phoenix Mens' team getting underway with a 1-1 draw against Macarthur, and the Womens' team preparing for their first match. The pod cast their eye over the squad changes to the Mens' team, and wrap up all the action from the opening weekend of football.
