We're doing a live episode tonight! Catch us as we jump back in time and watch the Phoenix's mighty 6-0 win over Gold Coast United.

Streaming live on the Yellow Fever Facebook page from 9pm NZT.

Where's the best place to get old Phoenix games?

Hey that was pretty fun. Nice to share a game with others. "Smeltzy Smeltzy what's the score?"

Oi Oi Edgecumbe... lets have a clean sheet

Watching that game really showed me how far quality of Nix and A League generally has come.

I say bring a bit more heated disagreement to the pod. Even if someone takes a contrary view that they don’t believe in absolutely - just for the craic. Like someone taking the line Payne’s contract should be torn up immediately.

Richard Parkin joins the podcast for a second time, after a tumultuous couple of weeks featuring two losses and Mark Rudan quitting. Meanwhile, Rich imparts his wisdom on the A-League reform and the New Leagues Working Group.

Any chance of getting Richard Parkin back on as a guest of the pod?  Difficult I imagine with lockdowns in both NZ & Aus, but he was excellent a year ago. From memory a few of the assumptions/predictions he made back then have proven to be correct.

Be great to get feedback from someone like him, and what he feels is a likely outcome with whole FFA and Fox Sports potential broadcasting drama.

Alternative broadcasting options in need.

Clubs standing down players/staff.

Thoughts on A League restarting etc etc etc

I did note that one person chose not to comment on Paynes situation. Was there some conflict of interest? Or simply the person didn't want to disagree?

havent caught with the last pod yet, but are you guys thinking of doing a season review/player review type thing? or even revisiting season predictions, earlier comments made about uffies appointment, and comparing them to how they have played out?

Wasn't the stadium proposal just before the announcement that the Phoenix  wouldn't get a new license? That might be why WelNix didn't push it as they had other things on their plate and it's hard to make a commitment to invest millions in a stadium without a long term license.

The idea was floated 18 months before the licence stuff became more of an issue. Your theory seems a bit weird to me since if that was why the Nix didn't end up pushing it harder, why would they bother proposing it in the first place?

Weren't they more or less confident of getting a license at the time? They were coming off one of the better seasons they'd had.

Something to show the FFA how serious they were. But, I thought the time lines were a little more compressed than that so your right, probably unrelated.

From my recollection there was a degree of cynicism expressed at the time that it was just an attempt to get some rent relief from Westpac Stadium.

Maybe get Buckingham on for one last chat (tell all).

I'll presume he'll head back to Blighty now, when the borders allow.

Just noticed this has been pinned again... Pod coming soon?

David Dome joins the pod to discuss whats going on with the Phoenix and the A-League in general during the COVID-19 hiatus - what will the league look like when it resumes and what does this mean for the future of the club? Elsewhere, Danny Hay has removed Des Buckingham as NZ mens U23 coach and replaced him with Danny Hay.

At the start of this pod with Chris James, he comments on Des being let go from U23s.

Also interestingly at 1 hr 48 min his views on Hudson as AWs coach.

it seems a little dirty to say this on this thread, but between two beers is one good dam podcast.

Just a warning if you listen to it while in bed and you fall asleep it loops through all the podcasts, so you wake up at 4pm, hearing another.

Not dirty at all! Between Two Beers is absolutely excellent, there are some great yarns on there that I've thoroughly enjoyed listening to

Yep, saw the Chris James one on twitter, went to download it, and ended up downloading the entire back catalogue.  Looks like some great interviews, really looking forward to diving in to it.  I enjoy longform interviews that have time to meander wherever the conversation takes itself, so this should be great.

It’s a long listen at 2 hours 40 mins. I’ve only mostly skimmed through it, trying to find the bit about Huddo.

James’s time at Colorado Switchbacks, and getting KOed by his Korean team mate in the changing room is a particular interesting yarn!
