The club can't see Rudan as a 'cod' because they have hired his recommendation -Talay.

To be honest, my fear is that hiring Talay is poor judgement by the club.

Just about every manager's appointment would have those doubts from the fans.

Ha, very true. To be more specific he's never been the head coach of a club. And his time with the U20's was poor. Doesn't exactly fill me with confidence when other candidates may have been available.

As a fan base we were split when the club chose Merrick, probably more negative than positive if I can remember correctly. There were some optimists and there were some pessimists when Kalezic was hired. When Mark came onboard last year there were a lot of doubters. The club will never be able to entice a coach here that would be universally pleasing to all of us. I'm not saying Ufuk will be a good decision, and I'm not saying it will be a bad one either. We simply just don't know. Mark was fantastic, Darije was abysmal, Ernie provided us with one incredibly fun and enjoyable season, then followed up with a couple of miserable ones. It'll be easy to look back and say it was a poor choice if this time next year we finished 9th, but at this point we have nothing to go by. Might as well approach it with some sort of nonchalant optimism until we are a few games in and can see what we are working with

Annual finals disappointment enthusiast.

i’ll Raise my hand and say I was the pessimist when all 3 were hired. For some reason, I feel ok about Talay

Oh no... does that mean we're doomed!

I was ok with talay as he was Rudans best mate and therefore thought out of loyalty to his mate he wouldn't cut his lunch

He has however already started cutting and eating the sandwich

The FFA are holding it for ransom and making sure there's no negative comments about their sticking one yet again up the Nix's jack see.

We were going to record. Then the weather forecast told us there would be 20mm of rain right when we had scheduled to record. We bailed. It didn't rain. End of story.

We recorded this last week, but Patrick forgot to edit it... so here it is. We chat about the first round of players to leave the club, the most notable being Roy Krishna. Also, we wrap the grand final and an excellently flubbed penalty, and look ahead to the Football Ferns at the World Cup.

You're supposed to claim it was a live recording un-edited for a full Phoenix City experience.

It made me chuckle so I'm glad it was in there.

The odd bit of things going awry can add to a podcast.

Man, Patrick, when you were talking about Jose and Ramon, you picked up the speed at which you were talking at and got in some serious words per min. impressive.

Can't wait for the Singh going to Bayern comments in the next cast. What do we offer the A League? Players going to a higher level.

I realise your comment is a little tongue in cheek but this misses the point of our Australian critics.

The reasoning from Australian critics is "what does the Nix offer to Australian football that a replacement Australian team can't provide?". Really, the Singh transfer doesn't speak to this at all. It's a NZ player, coming from through an NZ pathway, transferring to Bayern II.

Sure, Singh played in the A-League, but a critic could construe that as Singh benefiting from the arrangement at an Australian's expense.

What those critics want from NZ is $$$, from broadcasting and other revenue streams, as the 'getting out of Oceania' obligation has now been fulfilled.

Chance to see top quality footballers- Rojas, Kosta, Singh all coming through the Nix and all bringing in crowds

Admittedly I’m only halfway through, but isn’t Bell on the verge of signing with a top-tier team in Norway, rather than 4th tier??

Wow, some extremely hopeful chat on Roy Krishna.  If he turned down our offer of a 3 year deal on top $$ he surely won't be coming back here in January!

Last seasons ISL finished in mid March. So if its the same again this season, he won't be a free agent in the January window anyway.
