I don't think this is good at all.

I get the feeling that Terry is just trying to stay afloat.

Sell off our good players (Mckain + maybe more)

Buy crap (Mcallister + more)

HUGE stretch.  That is Diego's Son level conspiracy.

McKain is going because he's going to be paid three or four times more than we can pay him under the cap and keep a competitive squad.

It's one player not some wholesale sell-off.  Let's wait and wee what happens with the Midfielder, Striker and replacement for him before we start seeing conspiracies.

Its just a hunch. I'm willing to bet we aren't going to pick up any solid players like ifill or even greenacre though.

Good luck Jon, you have been a good friend and 'servant' for the Phoenix. You worked hard for us and we wish you well.

I hope you find a welcoming, friendly and professional environment in Saudi.

Ah McKain, we won't see you again ...

Someone should set Jon up with a blog on this site, ala Greenacre, so we can see how he settles into his new team/league and surroundings.

Not the reason. Good deal for Jon and we (sorry I still say we) would never stand in a players way to make better money. Please note that this is not  WPX selling players to stay afloat. It is great to see that overseas club are looking at WPX players which means we have a come a long way in 3 years. PS: Macallister will be very good this year once he gets fit.
NB: These comments are comments made by me as a WPX fan and not as an offiical from the club.

Thanks, Tony. With that post you've dispelled not only the "Terry frantically selling players to pay his rates bill" rumor, but the "Tony P left because of a feud with Terry" rumor.

Also: the fact that McKain has been turning out in pre-season games at awful hours on boggy club grounds shows that he's obviously not got a problem with the Nix.

And the fact that he recently signed a two year extension.

On FM I sold him for AU$3M. I would be disappointed if he was sold for less because I would say FM is pretty realistic.

Don't worry, the OP's 'underdog' office source can keep us up to date with the contract details, all the comings and going at the new club ...

Crikey Tony P!  Spoil a good knitting circle opportunity why don't you?

That explanation is just way too plausible that I refuse to believe it.  I can't believe I've just renewed our membership when the club is obviously doomed and secret fire-sales are happening - probably at this very moment.

Sad to see him go, but confident in Siggy to step up and fill his boots.

When the Saudi's find some Brazilian with an asian passport and let him go, hopefully he will come back.

Not if the Danny Allsopp situation is anything to go by - he wont want to come back because of tax laws in NZ?

Saw the report on TV this afternoon.
It is a huge loss, and we need to act very quickly.

cheers Tony P - you make a bloody good fan as well as a stunning ex ceo - despite your ring of dirt decision ;)

but to the mckain business - big loss, but if some of the dosh goes back into the club then that has to be a good thing

some great memories of mckain not least his goal scoring flurry at the end of the season and the completely justified round of applause he got during the play-off after being sent-off

Very sad to see him go but fantastic for Jon.
We loved him while he was with us and there's no point getting upset about him wanting to further his career.
We will always have a place in our hearts (and our squad) for you.
