yes shes just gone back to have the sprog for whatever reason. Maybe they have better doctors over there.
 
anyways - I want us to throw caution to the wind on Sunday and play the Steve-O/Thompson six up front formation including Chen and Costa.

How did he manage that? Git. I had to wait three years, making business trips to Aussie a pain with returning resident visas, and it's changed so Daniel should have had to wait five. Remind me again of the FIFA residence rules on second citizenships - it was two years, in which case Daniel qualifiies, but if I recall it changed. Certainly five years was being talked about, but did it pass into the statutes. I should look at the FIFA regulations again, but I figure you may have already done so? 
 
That same Herald article from December said he might get clearance in time for the Confed Cup, but that clearly was not the case.

As an aside there will be a few of us older buggers who remember the standard and only formation when we were kids was 2, 3, 5. Aside from miss matches I don't remember there being that many real spankings despite 5 forwards taking on 2 backs - you would think there would have been. Backs were the hardest, midfielders the fittest, wingers the quickest and inside rights and lefts the creators and the center forward the flash bugger who knew where the net was.

From memory it went something like;
 
If they came through the middle the nearest back took on the ball carrier the other dropped to sweep (that was before there were sweepers).
 
If they came down a wing the back on that side went across to the ball carriers wing. The other back drifted across to the middle.
 
Midfielders job was to track back and pick up spare players - I guess they were box to box midfielders and never even knew it

I dunno - Costa scored two ithe other night for our 'reserves' and apparently outshone Chen. If Ifill is out injured, then Costa would seem a tangible option up front to me.

At the risk of incurring the wrath of Feverish...

The FIFA rule was changed from 2 to 5 years last year, maybe in May? There was a bit of confusion at the time as to what rule would apply to Daniel (resident in NZ before the rule change, but became citizen after the change), and it would seem that FIFA take it from the time of citizenship, making Daniel ineligible for AWs until 2013 presumably.

would Daniel get into the AW's now though? I'm not so sure, certainly wouldn't in a few years.....he barely makes it into the starting line up for the nix, even less chance now with Caceras playing.

Not playing for the Nix didn't stop Mulligan and Christie playing for the All Whites

but think it will more likely be Ferrante there.
Ricki has to have striker cover on the bench this week. HAS TO.
If Ifill does play, we still want cover and Costa has got to be there in stead of having Ferrante on bench. It does mean we have little defensive cover though.

We'd be much better off switching to 4-4-2 and playing Siggie up front with Our Troy so we can both attack and defend from the front.

It appears there are only 5000 people at the stadium watching the egg ball game Wellington vs Southland.

So it looks like the Phoenix are pulling in decent crowds at the moment, in comparison :)

Erm yeah thats actually a good crowd. A fair comparison would be the wednesday night game vs newcastle,if the weather is rubbish. Even that is unfair as its in the school holidays.
