Hes probably being left out for the same reason Kosta is, whatever reason that is. Oh wait, Kosta isnt even being named in the AWs at all!

And why are you asking us this? Do you think Ricki puts up a poll on this website for us select the AWs starting XI?

well, It sure seems that way.

My train of thought goes something like;

Q. Are we playing to our potential, is this as good as it can get for Nix 2010/11 ?
A. No, I think we recruited poorly in the last off season but we still have enough talented players to be sitting 5th or 6th.

Q. Is it an attitude problem with the players ?
A. No, they do seem to be putting the effort in.

Q. Are we getting the most out of our players ?
A. No, our "match winner" Ifill is spending  large chunks of the game isolated out wide as does Leo. We have the current Australian international CB playing out of position and we have an Australian youth international striker not even on the bench.

Q. Why do we get carved up so easily ?
A. Slow midfielders.

Q. What's going on up front ?
A. We have one of the shortest players on the park running his bollocks off chasing high and through balls and also spending much of the game isolated.

Q. So what's the real problem ?
A. Herbert's formations, selections and bench.

Q. Should we sack him ?
A. No - but get him some help - I think he is running / run out of ideas.

Q. When ?
A. Now - we are starting to burn off supporters and the team's confidence won't handle too many more spankings.

What a load of bollocks. Hard to single out anyone tonight , they were all piss poor.I take Tony P's point about keeping the faith but it's hard when we're served up the same dross by players who seem to be  lacking eventhe most basic ball controll skills. No delivery from midfield , Bertos running into his marker time after time, crosses hitting players and going nowhere near the goal mouth  , Macallister...Like last week at home ,   heads dropped after a goal and they rolled over and took it like George Michael in jail.
Now we'll see exactly what Herbert's got.Easy to manage a winning side .,harder when things aren't going well.
Oh , I still think Matt Simon's a c..t ; no change there.

A view from the game- without the benefit of replays. We had our chances but couldn't put them away. Two decisions by the ref and assistant referee didn't help matters. The second goal definitely looked offside as the Phoenix were continually pinged for returning from an offside position which is exactly what the CCM player did, while the third came from a blatant handball ala Henry with the same result. Those two decisions would gut anyone. The midfield didn't gel again- Elliot did not have a good game when once expects him to take control and dictate terms while Bertos contributed little once again. Time for a rest Leo and put on Daniel. The transformation from midfield to forwards needs more work, while the constant back passing indicates that teams have sorted Phoenix out and the coaching staff/players haven't come up with an option to free players up to receive the ball. Still basic errors made by some players are proving costly - e.g. North being easily turned and no back up defence for the first goal!!!!!!

Further to my comment on the game - many of us there found the crossing to be abysmal either too slow or totally inaccurate/woeful. Still no support for Greenacre while Iffil is too wide for lots of the game.

our midfield was non-existant again this week..not too sure what job elliot was meant to provide but he isnt doing much playing far too deep for my liking...Tim Brown..why we persist with this man I have no idea..Lia...too slow we were totally outplayed in the middle of the park. we are very much a one trick pony side  we only ever seem to play down the wings and even that wasnt very good..we persist with Bertos taking corners and free kicks and for a winger he doesnt cross a ball too well!!  grrenacre up front on his own just gets creamed by the opposition defence...so come on Ricki get the tactic book out for christsake!

It is about time we all got real. There is only ONE boss.
Regardless of how good RH is,that is not the point, the team are not playing well and thee buck has to stop with RH. If this was the EPL he would be gone. We need a fresh face.

first goal was all on north, so far out of position that #3 had all the time in the world to make his run....

I've said it before, but with our defence in the disaray itis at the moment we have no chance to win games. North has not filled the hole McKain left, losing Lochhead to injury has exposed a major lack of deprth in our defensive players. WE get the defence seorted and we look a completley different team.

ricki isn't on the field, he selects the team sure but if they can't do their jobs correctly it isn't his fault.

It's not really how we're losing - I mean, you're going to lose quite a few games in a league this close. It's how we completely give up after we go down. It's f**king pathetic and not something the club has been known for since it's inception.
Sorry I can't agree with this.

We were totally outclassed in the first half, after the first ten minutes or so, yet the guys came back well and had at least an even second half, hit the cross bar, hit a post and would have been gutted to concede two goals, one to a clear missed hand ball that created a very dangerous transition situation for us.  I may be biased, but it seemed to me they were up against it with refereeing calls overall tonight.

I thought they kept it together pretty well.  Unlike vs Brisbane.

Well he should make changes. Tim Brown has been crap all season, but has started every game.
You are wrong when you say he is not on the field etc. Ge is being paid to make decisions, but he is not making any.

I do so agree with everything you have just said, our defense has big problems at the moment, which is the reason we are loosing, but Hearfield couldn't have done a better job than North- who wasn't playing that well.

Just came back from the match...it was a long walk so I have cooled down a bit since I left the game. Losing is all part of being a football fan. Nobody likes to lose but if you play well but get beaten by a better team you just have to take it on the chin. But CCM who are generally donkeys made us look terrible.

But what we have seen in the last two games is complete capitulation. Shipping seven goals is a disaster....its worse than a disaster. Something is seriously wrong. i agree with Tony P...I won't slag off the players but what really annoys me is we repeat the same things, make the same selections, play the same combos when its obvious that it is not working

Hows this for starters

I counted 9 longballs pumped up to Greenie....and he never won a single one of them. So why....match after match, do we keep doing it. IT DOES NOT WORK

Brown, Elliot and Lia are all holding midfielders...they are slow and don't create much Don't KEEP SELECTING THEM ALL IN THE SAME SIDE

North is the current Australian centre back....PLAY HIM THEIR AND NO WHERE ELSE

We are getting no punch from our wide backs. North and Muscat are good players but they are not fast enough to play a modern wide back role.

Once I counted 11 passes before we managed to get the ball over half way. The passing is laboured and the player movement is almost non existant.

The team is fixable.....the question is do the coaching staff have the ability to do it.

I do so agree. why does Rikki ever take off Greenacre? He doesn't ever have anyone on the bench that does his job better than him! Greenacre isn't a superstar all the time, I know that, but he's not ever bad enough to sub off.

I hate to say it but I never saw us having a chance and loaded up on the Mariners to win. Thank you TAB. Hate betting against the Phoenix but what a business opportunity. The standard of the better teams in this league has picked up and Herbert is now out of is depth. We have been playing awful for a while yet keep fielding pretty much the same team. Why because we havent recruited well. Dont blame Elliott anyone. Hes used to a team that passes the ball.

We obviously should be playing Rojas more. We haven't conceded a goal this whole season when he's been on the field!

The Nix have two tactics on attack

1, wack a long ball to the shortest striker in the A-League
2, pass it down the flanks and get a winger to wack in a cross to the shortest striker in the A-League

Greenacre is a good player....its the tactics that suck. He has been at this best playing along side either Pav or BigMac.

Time for my pennyworth.

CCM were head and shoulders better, Jesus, even Matty Simons was looking quick on the ball.

Im afraid I predicted this after we beat Perth last week, cos we were still crap but Perth were even worse. I was clear to me that nothing had changed.

Brown has scored 2 excellent goals which has kep him in the side, but our whole midfield is dysfunctional, and is getting roasted by other teams.

It really looks like we are a player down all the time, the opposition rake up 15-20 passes without trying, then we get the ball and manage 2 or 3 at best before losing it.

CCM were bigger and more physical, certainly better in the air, but also quicker on the ball in midfield.

So overall, we were outclassed Im afraid.

Frankly, that is just not good enough, and as a season ticket holder I dont mind the team losing, but really, it was like we were the away team playing the top of the league side!

Why can't we play two up front, this whole 4-3-3 bollocks is ripping us off we're not quick enough for that we show no urgency going forward and we have nothing going through the middle of the park and Jade North isn't a Right backs arsehole play him in the centre of defence ffs oh and we don't need to start with three defensive midfielders it's crippling our creativity not that we have much at the moment (imo)

No first goal was due primarily to a lame midfield effort from Tim Brown!!

The ball only came out to the right because of the lame effort of Brown in the midfield.
