Yep, totally agree.

I never look at the front page, now I see what it is that you are referring to.

For the sake of others reading please STAY ON TOPIC they may spend all day on here but they don't have time to read or trawl through all the little things that amuse others who enjoy taking a light hearted approach to it all i.e life, the economy etc etc

it's serious business this football talk

So stay on topic

Wrong thread I know but agree - add one more to those who would appreciate the option of blocking selected member's posts.

First time I have commented on blocking option but, of late, a bit too much inaneness for me - even allowing for school holidays.

On topic - off to airport to hopefully enjoy our first away win of the season.

To be fair, the first post after mine was a minute after so they might not have seen the threat.

Last warning.

Good to see Ifill back on board for Cold Roast. Will be interesting to see if an Ifill and Greenacre pairing up front eventuates.

Improving,,on the up, a work in progress from Italiano and the Nix. Bring on the bathroom bling in '24! COYN!

My concern is that without Moosecat as a holding midfielder, Culina with have free reign.  Although not sure playing PATT at LB is viable.

I'm a little concerned with the comment in the Dom that Nick Ward will play a defending midfield role. He is much better on attack, and can be completely awful on defence (Heart game anyone)

I am very concerned with how our midfield will look.

Would Siggy be worth a go as a stopper in front of the back four. I reckon he'll struggle with Traore at RB. I just think Culina is the heart of that side and if we nullify him we are halfway to a win.

Likely to be...

Vukovic

Siggy-Dura-North-Muscat

Brown-Ward

Bertos-Ifill-Daniel

Greenacre

Paston, Hearfield, Macallister, Pavlovic

Grrr... Not a fan of Ifill in the middle of the park. I think he is far more effective on the wing. Plus he'll have Pantelidis trying to break his legs all night. And then our other two central midfielders like to push up the park. Hopefully the Coast don't break fast on us.

And the bench, two strikers? Waste of a very valuable spot imo. Rojas or Diego would've been much better I reckon.

           Vukovic

Siggy-Dura-North-Muscat

  Bertos        Brown-Ward    Daniel

            Greenacre   Ifill

Paston, Hearfield, Macallister,Toto

I would give brown the job of effectively being in Cullina's pocket all night, simply because he is the key to whatever they do.

I'd quite like to see Pav given more than 15 minutes. Maybe a half time switch for either Daniel or whoever is playing below par in the first half

Agree. He definitely deserves more game time to truly prove his worth.

Three for me, and two for them.

Most likely, agreed, but christ that is an attacking midfield. Ward in a defensive position is offering Rolled Host a goal, and Timmy has always been a better player pushing forward.

Well I still think this would be the best:

Bertos                                  Daniel
           Greenacre Mac/Pav

Ward has been really releasing Bertos and Greenacre more and more so think with two strikers in front of him he could become even more efficient. I think this formation utilizes our best performers in their best positions.

This gives us a damn good chance to stop culina. Even put browny and manny to double team him at the back.

Ifill will start I guess, unless they want to ease him in?

3 at the back did seem ok against the furbies, with siggy acquitting himself well
but nqf are a wee way behind gc in calibre i feel.
we could sneak a couple of early goals & it would be good to see pav get a decent shot

Ward perhaps can be our Pirlo and hit the multitude of attacking targets in front of him from deeper. However would prefer Manny in midfield!

i wonder how the lochead critics feel now?

I'd much rather see Lochy at left back and Manny in midfield than the outcome of Lochy's injury which is lose Manny from our midfield

point being that not every position needs to be filled by a class player - as long as all on the park do their job and key players are available and in good form in their best position

for me Manny is now part of the spine of the team (in mid)

it will be interesting to see how Ward goes sitting deeper and if cornejo comes on relatively early if Iffil starts in centre -mid but comes off after 60 mins

Jeez, start at 11pm, finish around 1am

Can't be easy

The only time I played sport at that time was squash after a big night
pity I couldn't connect the racquet with the ball

We win this GC can't catch us, draw and they can overtake with the game in hand

Vuk
Sig Dura North Manny
Brown no way Ward here ta Diego better
Ward
Ifill                                 Bertos
Greeny
Pasty Toto Pav Hearfield

OR

Vuk
Sig Dura North
Brown Manny
Ward
Ifill                             Bertos
Pav Greeny
Pasty Toto Hearfield Daniel

Despite my desire to have Greeny have a big mate up front, I think I prefer the first formation for GCU.  Is Diego fit?  Motivated? Alive?

Something along those lines, I'd go with whoever has the worse first half out Daniel and Leo

Ooo I want to see more Toto. That magical gnome intrigues me.

We will never fully decide who has won the football.

Permalink Permalink

We have never won in Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne and have lost four straight in Perth...but we have won on the Gold Coast. If there's a time where we get our season going, it's on the Coast against a team we love to hate (Smeltz or no Smeltz).

Methinks this one could hang in the balance for a while at 0-0. A goal really gets this game going...if there is a goal at all. GCU have only scored once (but only conceded once) in four home games this season.
