Let's get em!!! Same again. Two days after Christmas, hope the guys can refrain from overeating.

We've played the furries 4 times so far

2 draws (one at home and one away)
2 wins (at home)

Our destiny is in our own hands.... get fired up

Refrain from drinking might be more to the point.

Lochead and Toto back? I would say Ifill wont be there.

So I'd be tempted to stick with how we started except with Chris in for Ifill. The bench would be interesting if we have Lochhead and Toto back. I'd look at easing Lochhead back off the bench in place for Musa. And I guess Pav may travel too?

I would keep Dura oiut (bench)....North seemed to lift his game when he wasnt in..maybe they dont work so well together now?  Start Locky and move Manny back to mid.

A small town in Europe........looking to bounce straight back up....well that aint going to happen

Lochhead has had half a game for the A team, do you think he'd be ready to be thrust back into 90mins of a-league? I'd think not considering Dura will come back in, Siggy to RB and Hearfield to the bench. I really liked how the 4-4-2 worked against the jets so i don't think Ricki will change it much.

                             Vuko
Siggy        Dura             North        Muscat
                   Lia               Brown
Rojas                                                 Bertos
                 BigMac        Greenie

Bench: Crowther, Hearfield, Daniel, Toto/Pav?

Not sure about the bench though.

Assuming Lochy is fit to start I would have:

              Vuko

Siggy   Dura    North   Lochy

Rojas Brown     Manny Daniel

     Greenie    Big Mac

Bench: Hearfield, Bertos, Pavlovicaitkenmike2010-12-19 17:36:59

Gonna put my beak out and say Hearfield and Rojas on either side of midfield.

                                  vuko

                 siggy       dura      north       hearfield

                 rojas        brown     muscat         daniel

                             greeny      macalister
bench: crowther (RGK) lochead, pavlovich, lia

bertos = byebye, waste of a postition, might as not be there, did 1 good thing against jets, and that was luck.

muscat is to influential in the midfield, he needs to be there for his tackling and passing, ability to run 100% as well

rojas and daniel to fill the wides, pavlovich as striker cover with lochead to cover defence on the bench, give him 15 mins at end, ease him into it, sam with lia, bring him on later and let him  run around and tackle tired players

on an extra note, i think brown should stay captain even with the return of dura. lead the team alot better than duras done all season, and it worked for us

good luck lads

Yeah for a team thats got so many wide players, we sure are stetched for finding some for this next game in my opinion.

Leos not gonna get any better untill he rests. Ward, ifill out. Toto still has to recover, and Daniels not going to exactly light the league up, always been the best from the bench.

So we could go with Daniel, troy or even toto.

However, I have a cunning concept, people may not like it but I think the following may utilise our squad the best:

                 Vukovich
Siggy   North Durante Hearfield
Rojas     Brown   Lia        Muscat
        MacAllister Greenacre

Crowther Lochhead Daniel Pavlovich

Muscat up higher on the field will probably be controversial, but he wont let us down and means we keep our on form players all playing the same game. If it doesnt work, we can just swap him and Troy round. Could be a winning combo

               Dura        North
Sigmund                               Lochy
                    Muscat
             Brown        Ward

I agree. North seemed a lot more relaxed and he and Siggy played well together. Perhaps the break might give Durante something to think about because to be honest, the last few matches where we've been conceding them, he's been there abouts. Times like that require a Captain to bollox or lift his team.

don't change a winning lienup, greenie to start instead of ifill, with Lochy on the bench.....you have to reward the team that's got the results - stick with 4 - 4 - 2, it clearly works, and greenie was awesome when he had a target man to play off.theprof2010-12-20 11:04:14

Durante will and should go straight back in to the starting line-up - not just because he is captain but far more because he has been one of the better, most consistent, players all season.

I think it was clear from his outstanding performance on Saturday that North is a CB far more than he is a FB. My money is therefore on Sigmund moving to FB - tough on Hearfield who copes a lot better with pace than Sigmund - but I don't recall anyone in the Fury with Kosta or Kruise (sp?) type pace.

Lochhead on bench (hopefully) for Musa (big fan of Musa but need to get Lochhead back).

Ward can't be far away - I would pick him ahead of both Leo and Daniel on current form.

He dribbles a lot and the opposition dont like it - you can see it all over their faces. (Ron Atkinson)

Hmmm....this could be a good idea. I'm not sure. Dura has absolutely earned the right to come straight back into the mix. On the other hand Ricky is big on the not changing winning teams, and making players earn their way back- ie Moss, Paston, Vukovic and yes, agreed North and Siggie had great games.

Hmmm...Does Lochy come straight back in too? hard to say...though the midfield will surely be a tougher contest next time around...

agree with Whitby, Dura will come back, he's the capt and probably the best defencive player we have, with North showing some form at CB, our defensive stock is looking better epsecially withy Lochy on the way back. Hearfield to the bench perhaps with Dura Slotting back in to the line with Siggy to RB and Manny at LB until Lochy can start, sub Lia at 65 bring Locky on move Manny to DM.

The interesting thing with the centre back pairings is that Dura normally plays on the left of the defensive pair and North played on the left of Sigmund on Sat. Not sure if Sigmund pulled rank and shifted North to the left or North prefers the left. He did play well on the left. Dura back in the team will most definitely see North back to right side of the CB's, will it affect his form at all?

Maybe siggy isnt so good on the left haha, north is pretty good on both feet
Permalink Permalink

yeah siggys pretty much said in the past that his left leg isnt for too much than standing on, so Dura decided to play left.

But previously i think Durante did play on the right side.
I vote North stays on the left. And I'd like manny to stay there too

Generally I would agree however;

1 game doesn't = performing well.

Not wanting to take away from a very good performance and a very valuable 3 points that was a seriously depleted Newcastle side.

Having said that I think the bar has been raised for getting back in to the team but, for me, Durante would clearly add to the strength of the starting 11 and warrants an automatic recall.

Lochhead and Ward, who are returning from injury, I would reintroduce off the bench.

100% agreed

We kept the same team after the (admittedly less than emphatic) win over Perth and it didn't turn out too well - I think that if better players are available you put them in. Dura is in that list.

I know Siggy went well in CHC at RB.  But once doesn't make a rice pudding.  Putting Siggy at RB sends all the wrong messages in this - let's face it - virtual must win fixture.  It will be an intolerable situation if we lose to this crappy fury shower (especially if Newcastle and Mel V both pick up points).

This fixture must be won (or at the very least drawn), through vision, supreme first touch, Marcos pace, go ahead goals, and ruthlessness.

I'd go with the same line-up as we started against Newcastle (with a Greenacre-Ifill switch-a-roo).

And a license "to go crazy" by the coach.

not sure about toto?

Am guessing lochy is on his way back?

I actually like Pav on the wing. He could be given a shot there off the bench? Hes not the biggest goal threat, but atleast tries to beat men. and pass it off

Pav would never be in the right place to get the ball, his runs are aimless and without any direction, at least Leo and Daniel have both been involved in the recent scoring plays.

how many clean sheets have we had recently with dura at the back?
be interesting to see greeny and dmac starting up front. hopefully with rojas delivering better ball it'l be a winning combo. guys are always writing off siggys skills but i reckon hes been huge for us in recent games and improved his passing/crossing alot
