That's not a bad way to acknowledge them actually, Oceanic6.
Polite clapping as they read out the players names at the start ....then its game on!

Improving,,on the up, a work in progress from Italiano and the Nix. Bring on the bathroom bling in '24! COYN!

I'm sure you have most if not all YF's members sympathies.    Horrible time for your club and the A-League. I'll be clapping when GCU's starting XI are announced at the game.

+1. GCU's fans and players have my full support during this time - apart for a certain 90 minutes, that is! Sincerely hope to see a Gold Coast side remain in the competition - preferably with ownership The Beach can be proud of.

Came here (and signed up) to suggest we clap during the GCU team announcement, glad to see people already suggesting it.

Good on those boys for playing despite the off-field antics of their owner, and I'm sure our players can feel some empathy for that.

So: polite clapping during their lineup, then on to the usual sledging during the game.

Too right Robb. Palmer might have stuffed up but someone more in touch with GCU fan base maybe could do better.

By any reasoning we should win this game...and win it well. But as football history has shown....many many times these sort of games are like a banana skin for the favoured side.

A bit like when the ill fated Knights were given the chop with only a few games left. A new coach(Ricki) came in and they won a cluster of games. GC have the freedom of playing without any pressure. No body expects them to win...so they can go out and show what they can do.

The Nix in comparison have all the pressure. They desperately need the points. The off/on nature of this match won't have helped their nerves. They have had a very disrupted week with the coach and 5 players away all week with the AW's. Two guys are nursing injuries. On paper we should win...and win comfortably. But the GC made life tough for their last two opponents. In contrast we have not played to our potential for the last three games.

Anyone thinking this will be a walkover may be in for a surprise. Hopefully our side has enough senior players to get us through this. An early goal for the Nix would be a big help. I am quietly confident.....but a bit nervous as well!!

Yes and he is a very very good coach!

Does this mean that Canberra Cosmos will be making a comeback?

And I'm pretty sure I saw him play for Christchurch Utd in the National League way back in the day. Had one of the best Scottish sun-tans ever IIRC.

I know, I know, its serious!

I so want us to get a win tomorrow.  Partly to cement 3rd place before the games in Tardistan, and partly because I want to see how many flash their moobs @80 mins in what promises to be a "refreshing" southerly breeze.

The FFA have guaranteed United can finish the season after taking control following Palmer's application for an injunction against the termination of his A-League licence was dismissed on Friday night in the Supreme Court in Brisbane.

Then there was the tricky matter of incumbent United coach Mike Mulvey, who had not signed a FFA contract due to his loyalty to Palmer.

Initially, the FFA handed Matildas' coach Tom Sermanni the United reins for the rest of the season but, on Saturday, confirmed Mulvey would be in charge, reportedly avoiding a player revolt.

Mulvey took over the reins after Palmer sacked coach Miron Bleiberg but groomed the majority of the players in the side in his capacity as the National Youth League mentor.

Gorman said Sermanni would provide an "ongoing support role" for Mulvey.

United have resembled an under-23 side due to a horror injury list but amazingly flourished under Mulvey's reign including a 3-3 draw with ladder leaders Central Coast.

It prompted Gorman to issue a sobering warning.

"Any of these last four games, believe me, won't be throw away games," he said.

"There is a drive to finish with the momentum they have built over in the last two or three weeks under Mike."

Mulvey said his only loyalty would be to the players in the final four games.

"It has been a tumultuous time, but my focus has always been on the players," he said.

"They approached me and said they would love for me to continue as coach.

"The message I have delivered (since Bleiberg's axing) is that we must stick together.

"If I was to abandon them at this point in time, it would be the wrong message to give."
