Eh? I don't think so Charlie Brown. I think there will be a judge involved.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

How is it in the players hands? Its all the admin stuff that is putting the game in doubt, nothing the players can do about that.

If the players sign contracts with the FFA the game will go ahead. If they don't it won't. If they sign next week it will be postponed. Not saying they're in a nasty situation, but it IS their decision.rjmiller2012-03-02 14:43:15

Nix Keen, GCU Players Keen, FFA Keen, Clive Keen. Hopefully the judgement will only be on the basis of the license / owner issues going forward. Cancellation or delay would not be the outcome clearly any party wants.

A judgement may involve a stay in proceedings in which case the players should not need to sign with the FFA and continue as normal I would assume until a full hearing.

Not sure you're right.

Fat Clive has said he intends to honour the contracts with the players. It's entirely possible he is saying that to maintain the right of vetoing the players signing a contract with the FFA... if they are contracted to him, and their contracts stipulate they can't sign a contract with another football club/organisation without being released...

So it could culminate in the FFA, the Nix and the Players being keen to play on Sunday but Fat Clive issuing an injunction.

So I'm hearing the players have signed with the FFA and they are set to travel tomorrow.  Even Clive's little legal tanty will probably still result in the game going ahead it's just who owns the player contracts.

Court isn't likely to be sorted until 20:00 or so tonight.

I'm pretty sure the players contracts with him stipulate he holds a licence to play in the a-league, without that they are void. But I now understand what you guys were saying, I didn't realise Clive was in court right now with an injunction to stop the licence being removed.

I just don't see how that can work unless the FFA back down, there have multiple breachs. This, from Fox, sounds positive...

FFA chief executive Ben Buckley confirmed that Gorman had "in principle" reached agreement with Gold Coast players, who would be paid by the game's governing body for the remainder of the season and until their contracts expired.

You would have thought its obvious they wouldnt get exactly the same as we give our players.Just shows unless you post exactly what you mean it will be lost on people.Mind you even then there would be some.

Just tried to buy tickets to the game at the Ticketek store, and then online, and no sales are going through, but it looks like you can buy for the CCM game.  Not a good indicator for the game.  Or the bouncy castle.

Just to throw another factor into the mix...
There's a weather bomb hitting Wellington tomorrow, and it's likely the airport will be closed. So even if they want to come, they might be waiting till Sunday...

Just tried again and worked fine this time - and half price in the family zone.  Yay - bring on the bouncy castle!

They could fly into Palmy and then catch the Naked Bus with me

On another note, is Jonas Salley jinxed? Wasn't he at the Knights when their licence was revoked as well?

Even if the game does go ahead the uncertainty would have put a dent in ticket sales for the couple of days. Dome has been talking about compo for the Nix from the FFA for loss of potential revenue. Its a real shame that the Nix has been caught up in this.....if it had all blown up next Monday then we wouldn't give a rats arse.
I won't believe the game is on until I hear that the GC players have boarded a plane to Wellington.

Don't think we should be proposing to the GC players, cheering them or fluttering our eyelashes at them. As a club we've had our backs against the walls for ages and I don't recall any other A league fans setting up a "We are the World" - type event to raise money for us.

GCU - sad but lets not get silly.

I feel for the GCU fans more than the players, the players can move elsewhere for football, but the fans cannot.

Agreed and if any of their fans turn up we should support them at the BB. But I don't want you dressing up like Bob Geldof, Patrick going "Guld Cooast are dyen! We moost help them noow!"

I'm changing my banner to say "Solidarity: The Beach". That's all. Showing support but not going all Bob Geldof on the situation.

Patrick mate I think you are a gem, and I'm glad we have you supporting the Phoenix.

Thanks Patrick - I have very sympathy for what the GCU supporters have had to put up with (i.e. Palmer) and showing support for them is a genuinely gracious thing to do.

Yeah. And the last thing we should be doing is showing we are better than any them! Hell no! We should be just as small minded and petty as they are! That's a MUCH better idea! Hell, imagine if we were BIG about it!? Imagine if we showed we understood! Imagine if we acknowledged them! What would people say!?

You can't be too old or too tall for the bouncy castle, and if the kids are going to go for face painting I'll join them.  Hopefully even if the game is cancelled they'll keep the bouncy castle and face painting - and if the game goes ahead I may watch the game from in there.
