You slipped up there Tony you should have made the kick off offer to ginger eejit. Ladies of wellington beware after feverish reads this he will think he has found away to get himself on the pitch come match day.

and just think you could have t.v getting involved -theres the video sorted
plus  you could have an "exclusive" in the womans day - that'll give you free wedding photos

and you get to see the footy

Decisions, Decisions

(hope the missus never reads this - if you do, honey - I'M ONLY JOKING!)

I sympatize with you mate. I remember back in 2000 my mum got remarried the day of the European Championship semi final (Italy vs Netherlands) and since I knew the priest who was officiating, I urged him more than once to speed up the whole thing so we could go back to the hotel and watch the game!

and what a game it was!

The screwed face expression of utter contempt, scorn and disdain on my good partners face said, without words needing to be said, on how she felt about getting married at a football match.

So, alas, having 11,000 people on the grooms side, dressed in RR's, singing 'You don't know what you're doing'  as I take my vows is not to be!

So thank you Tony, but I'll have to give your kind offer a miss

So......

Stag Do for the Sydney game on Sept 28th (the prev home game) then!!!!!!

When Hibs, went up, to win the Scottish Cup - I wisnae there - furfuxake!

She's not a football fan then? or just doesn't agree with sharing the day with your crowd?

She's not much of a sports fan full stop, supported Manly in her youth, although I think that was more to do with something to do on the weekend in rural NSW, there's only 2 channels on TV and they're showing the footy and her brother supported North Sydney or such.

I tried a number of times to get her to the ROF last season, but gave up as it being a lost cause, she didn't show the slightest bit interest.

The idea of sharing the wedding day with 11,000 other drunken Feverites is probably not too appealing to her either!

They say opposites attract. My wife never had any interest in going to footy matches though I did brainwash her into supporting Arsenal. She wasn't interested in motorsport either which is another of my passions.
We got divorced last week after 17 years together. Good luck.

Ditto. My wife is even the volunteer photographer for the Mount Albert Summer League - the only games she missed were the ones that clashed with Team Wellington fixtures. She liked football before we met, but being around me has raised her enthusiasm levels. It makes life so much easier when such interests coincide.

Mrs. News isn't a big fan, but I suspect this is because she is somewhat smothered by football.

She is however superbly understanding of my addictions, and I can't speak highly enough of someone who at times last season made three trips in to town on match days.

1. Drop me at the Bencher then 3 hours later -
2. Drop the Junior News to the Bencher
3. Pick up the Junior News from the Bencher after the game.

...and then have me roll in chopped about 4 hours later.

How's my driving? - Whine here

Oh well, she loves you. That's important to know her hearts in the right place! (Pundamonium thread?)

Then re-reading Tony P's offers, who's gonna be wearing the pants Ginge? Take up the offer, you know it's right. You'd become folklore.

Even Deaker might interview you!!

Certainly News is value for money in terms of quantity.  As for quality however...

Go for it Eejit......
Why does she want to get married in Martinborough for anyway....Ok its a beautiful town with vines and stuff but if she is into the great out doors then tell her the ROF has this huge area of grass and the catering will be heaps cheaper and imagine 11,000 people singing he's a jolly good fellow and you would be on national TV and on the front page of the DomPost and ...well its soooooooo obvious!!!!!!!!!!!

"The wedding of Holland's Rafael van der Vaart to Sylvie Meis was broadcast live on Dutch TV and was a ratings hit. Easy to see why."

Haha. That's awesome. You could perhaps have two weddings? A pretend warm-up one in Martinborough, then the real thing at the RoF?
