Views on Game

ive got a song that wont take long, Adelaide are rubbish.. the second verse is same as the first.. ADELAIDE ARE RUBBISH

- Felipe, good game, good goal, bloody good workrate, up and down that pitch so much its briliant!

- Once again i thought daniel played well, espc with Felipe

- Good to see George, thought he was good but did make one or two rushed passes, but i guess i cant rate fully til he plays longer

- Defence was solid at times, thought plodder had a great game, same too with dodd and great to see him carry on with his ankle injury

- Mids were solid for the most part

- Smeltz let the boys down with his constant offside, easily fixable tho but i thought he played well tonight

- Crowd once again excellent, not so sure on hearing "ref is w**ker" espc when they scored, im sure something else wood of spured theboys on more.. but once again very clear and vocal when watching on the idiot box!

- Just have to take our chances and make our plays count more often but im getting excited about wht the team will do in the future

ye he was. i do agree with that, but dont agree with it when they scored to spur the boys on

Smeltz plays too dumb and did let the team down constantly giving away free kicks when Phoenix were needing to get momentum going forward after Adelaide's second goal. Lucky goal for Smeltz.
Brazilians were worth it.
Ferrante will be gone when the Elrich is ready. He doesn't do enough in any of the games I've seen him.

Shame on everyone who said George cant trap a ball. Some class touches. I think he really looks promising .....but the boy needs to learn some english...he could hardly communicate.

Just with some of smeltz's offsides (and i dont want to see like his no1 supporter, I would be critical of him if I though he player bad)

and admittedly there were a few

but...

Werent a lot of them when the midfielders just bombed it goalwards?

If it was in structured attackes I would agree but not when there was little chance of a goal or it was just a pot luck bomb...

Ie ...did it really hurt us or was it a matter of circumstance? I think circumstance more often than not, and adelaide played on it.

Just my thoughts.

Probably add a bit about Moss seeing as im a keeper and all....

I thought he played quite well, although it really comes down to the decisions you make as a keeper and i think Moss may well feel he made the wrong one leading to their equaliser, but sh*t happens and you can't shift entire blame on to him for it. Second goal nothing he could do about it. Otherwise looked safe, always good when the keeper catches the ball no parring it away or down first. Came for a number of crosses and got the ball, missed one in the first half but we survived it so no worry there. Distribution also relatively good. Probably give him a 7.

Three for me, and two for them.

I've been really impressed with Moss. He's making it nigh on impossible for Paston (who i think is good too)

Yeah well you can't really drop Moss for doing pretty much nothing wrong. It's hard on Paston right now just sitting there on the bench cause i'm sure both train as hard as each other but until Moss has a dip in form you can't drop him he's taking his chance well.

He made the right run and got into one of those spots where anything can happen and it might hit you and go in.
The clincher for me was when the quick free kick was played to him and he was running away with his back to the ball.

exactly, communication is still a big issue with this team.

Give them a couple weeks and you wont have any "back turned" incidents.

I think wellington are a VERY GOOD TEAM, and on track for play-offs!!!

I thought the referee had a very poor game, missed a clear penalty for us when Danial was taken down but had given us a freekick when Danial had made a great dive a few minutes earlier. Lots of studs up challenges from the Adelaide midfield that went un-punished. To be honest I thought that it was the worst performance of any ref so far. The league is improving the football but the standard of refereing is third rate.

lol did anyone notice the similarity of the 2nd goal to the Melbourne equaliser?? both right footed crosses by lochhead from about the same position, going to smeltz with a slight deflection to steer it home?

I can't believe it was 85%-15% to Adelaide for the whole game - surely not

I wonder if teams have got wise to us wanting to play football from the back, adelaide's forwards put pressure on and (with a bit of help from the ref) their midfield looked to be dominating the physical side of the game.

I was pleased we went i n all square a t half time, but thought we looked more incisive in the second half - in patchs.

A great sequence of crossfiled passes involving the brazilians late in the first half.

Felipes goal, excellent body position and timing made it look easy to out jump a much bigger defender.

Thought George deserved a lot of the credit for our equaliser, he looked like he wanted to make things happen when he came on, quite a different style to Daniel and Felipe though - which probably widens our options.

Oh well, 8 days to wait for our first home win.

To be honest felt us in the YF were a bit ragged tonight, some of the lads round me seemed to have had one too many to pick up on some of the chants ( i thought one guy was going to toss his cookies)

and i still reckon those drums make it harder to get a chant going!!

good to hear the whole crowd gradually getting louder and pockets of chanting from other parts of the ground - thought the lads right at the back (prob about aisle 23) had a good match

those possession stats are hard to believe, but if they are/were true imagine what we could do with 40% of the possession !

clearly we made reasonable use of the ball when we did hold onto it

Sydney won 1- 0. Completely outplayed by Queensland, Bling had 3 shots on goal and no corners. Roar had 9 on goal and 8 corners. bling r still rubbish

All over in that game and 1 nil to Sydney. Acc to the thread Roar dominated but couldnt find the net. Makes Sydney 5 points, same as us and Roar and Melbourne

Still worried about that defence. The marking's tighter overall compared to the first couple of games but it's still a bit dodgy. Adelaide missed some sitters.
