Showed how much we have missed Ifill. He was brilliant, I thought - really lifted the rest of the team too.

Our usual stuff - need to go 1 goal behind to wake us up.

Thought Leo was horribly poor all game and our midfield of Lia/Brown/Smith is easily the worst in the league. Would love to have Sanchez and Ifill on the pitch for an extended period - thought Daniel did good when he came on too.

The midfield got well beaten. The Brown/Lia/Smith combo was not as good as what I thought it would be. Also, how can we have 37 corners and not one goes in the back of the net?! Jesus titty.. chrispy2011-11-19 19:15:32

I hope we don't delude ourselves, we were awful and frankly didn't deserve a point.
 
Special mention of Lochhead (worst game I think I've ever seem him play) and Bertos (half expecting him to turn up in a skirt next week).
 
Any midfield that has both handbrakes Lia and Brown in it is stuffed - Herbert learnt nothing from the time we were forced, by injuries and suspensions, to play with more skillful attacking midfielders and actually looked good. He just can't wean himself off the dour, slow DMs.
 
Djite is class and owned Durante and SigmUnd.
 
Until Ifill came on we looked exactly like what we are - a team of aging journeymen.
 
Roll on the transfer window.
 
To finish on a positive note - the ref had a very good game.
He dribbles a lot and the opposition dont like it - you can see it all over their faces. (Ron Atkinson)

lol pub where I watched it (somewhere in Kingsland)  was full of people watching the game, seems most of them didn't pre buy tickets then cbf waiting once the game started, Aucklanders :P

We were certainly not the greatest. First half was dire and we deservedly went behind.
We got a hell of a lot better after Ifill came on. Daniel helped to at least make us look a threat, but we were supposed to be the home team!
 
Far worse for me was the Sky Sports commentary duo, whoever they were. I couldnt stand listening to them, it was like listening to two boring old geezers sitting next to you who talk throughout the match. Im listening to Newcastle v Brisbane now and these commentators are a different league. I had second half turned down as low as I could manage.
 
Why dont commentators just tell us whos on the ball, rather than trying to prove they are better experts than the players, and maybe give us a summary of what we may have missed seeing when the ball is finally dead???

Why exactly did you think it would be good?

Lia and Brown have always been just servicable and Smith is a slightly below average player in my books. Thought that Lia picked up a little towards the end though - understandable he was a bit average considering his time out. Hugely disappointed in Brown's performance though.valeo2011-11-19 20:35:22

Yes but it is tough on the midfield playing a whole game with ten men - might go better if Leo Bertos ever returns.

Oh god yes! They are beyond terrible and suck any kind of life out of a game. It's ok to just shut the f**k up occasionally, guys - it's not a radio broadcast - we can see what's happening

Sports commentators in general are pretty dire, though. You really appreciate the good ones.
