Jr likes to get to the ground early to watch the warm up.SOmething I've notice the last couple of weeks , while irrelevant tol the crap we were served last night , speaks to the lack of quality in he club at present ( yes , there are exceptions. We all know who they are).
Dunno who the big unit is who's helping warm up the keepers , but , hell dude , do your damn job.He was taking crosses last night for Warner , only one out of every three was hitting the mark.On the roof of the goal , behing the goal , so far in front of the goal that it's almost a back pass. How the hell do you expect the keeper to reach them? I was watching Pasty , he looked really pissed off watching that. Then he took over ; every single cross was bang on , even with his left foot ( last week).
Nothing against Warner here ( although I'm not hat impressed by him) but I think the lack of support structures in the club is a major issue.
This isn't the players or Ricki's fault ; it is however the fault of the last days of CCF.It isn't even Wellnix's fault but it sure as hell is their responsibilty to fix.
The poor crowd turnout last night wasn't the result of the performance. But I can only remember one poorer attendance than last night ( a miserable mid week game last year).
Wellnix aren't stupid people.Buying random players probably isn't the right long term approach. But making a statement of intent by rapidly and definitively improving off field issues would be a start.More quality /depth in the squad is needed , I accept that.
Setting up acadamies is all well and good , and great for the long term future of the game here. But unless they pay serious attention to the present and medium term problems , starting with structures then players , there may be no long term future to worry about.
The Manager of Westpac told me last year that their break even crowd per game is 10K.Much more dire footie like we see all too often is going to make that figure really hard to attain.Hard to imagine that Wellnix Inc mage their coin by ignoring money losing areas of their businesses.
Ricki got it wrong last night. But when you looked at the bench , there wasn't the depth there to accommodate a change in tactics. If Ward is the answer , then god knows what the question is.
Still , neither of us had any voice when we got home.Had our usual great time. Off to Auckland for the next "home" game , knitting needles are already packed.
