Too 'over it' to read the thread, but I have to say that it was a poor performance by the Fever last night.

The way many 'gave up' after the 2nd Mariners goal was disappointing to say the least. And I'm very much including 'the core' when I say that.

Poor effort.

I know, I know, its serious!

This. Myself and a few others around me were trying to start chants, but the rest of the zone wasn't joining in. Poor form.

Jr likes to get to the ground early to watch the warm up.SOmething I've notice the last couple of weeks , while irrelevant tol the crap we were served last night , speaks to the lack of quality in he club at present ( yes , there are exceptions. We all know who they are).
Dunno who the big unit is who's helping warm up the keepers , but , hell dude , do your damn job.He was taking crosses last night for Warner , only one out of every three was hitting the mark.On the roof of the goal , behing the goal ,   so far in front of the goal that it's almost a back pass. How the hell do you expect the keeper to reach them? I was watching Pasty , he looked really pissed off watching that. Then he took over ; every single cross was bang on , even with his left foot ( last week).
Nothing against Warner here ( although I'm not hat impressed by him) but I think the lack of support structures in the club is a major issue.
This isn't the players or Ricki's fault ; it is however the fault of the last days of CCF.It isn't even Wellnix's fault but it sure as hell is their responsibilty to fix.
The poor crowd turnout last night wasn't the result of the performance. But I can only remember one poorer attendance than last night ( a miserable mid week game last year).
Wellnix aren't stupid people.Buying random players probably isn't the right long term approach. But making a statement of intent by rapidly and definitively improving off field issues would be a start.More quality /depth in the squad is needed , I accept that.
Setting up acadamies is all well and good , and great for the long term future of the game here. But unless they pay serious attention to the present and medium term problems , starting with structures then players , there may be no long term future to worry about.
The Manager of Westpac told me last year that their break even crowd per game is 10K.Much more dire footie like we see all too often is going to make that figure really hard to attain.Hard to imagine that Wellnix Inc mage their coin by ignoring money losing areas of their businesses.
Ricki got it wrong last night. But when you looked at the bench , there wasn't the depth there to accommodate a change in tactics. If Ward is the answer , then god knows what the question is.
Still , neither of us had any voice when we got home.Had our usual great time. Off to Auckland for the next "home" game , knitting needles are already packed.

The good think about 19 Nov is that as the RoF is booked, there can't be a city change for the match and the worst would be if we had go to North Harbour because Bon Jovi comes to town.

Basically we got out coached last night.
CCm new we would attack wide and they pressed us deep and wide to nullify our attacks. They simply outplayed us. You can hand the blame for last nights loss on Mr Herbert. Wrong tactics...and no plan B.

As has been pointed out last night our play was like the shiite we played first half of last season....playing wide and high(inaccurate) crosses into a short striker. MEMO to Rickie...".it did not work before, it did not work last night and it won't work in the future"

Playing Smith deep as a holding midfielder did not work also. Why did he change the formation when we had been playing so fluently in the previous two games?

Even though we have lost 3 in a row all is not lost IMO. We are only loosing games by a goal....we are not getting thrashed(except next week). We do have some capableattackingplayers like Sanchez,Greenacreand Smith, the sort of players who can play with the ball on the deck. But what it really comes to is this....is the coach up toit oris he lost in some time warp of using tactics like we saw last night.

The few calls for Welnix to do something are perhaps a little misguided. These guys are like the ambulance that has arrived at the bottom of the cliff. We are now reaping the crap that has occured for the last 9 months, thefinancial scandels, poor off season recruiting, poor preseason, late transfer of ownership etc...they have lots to sort out in a very short time. Sure it would be great to bring in a gun striker and a winger.......where are yougoing to find these guys in mid November?.

I think it was the way the game was going. I truly thought we could've played all night and not scored at one point and was feeling a bit deflated at that stage. Was pleasantly surprised when we did get a goal basically out of nothing, but after that 2nd goal went in, I just felt there was no way we were coming back again, and so it proved.

Hence, the lack of enthusiasm to chant.

I agree with a lot of that, especially the highlighted bits.

Yes, Welnix inherited a bad situation and can only play the cards they have been dealt. But they sure as hell can be judged on how well they play those cards.

Agreed. They've had enough time to assess the situation.

Had plenty of opportunity to speak to Nathan and the other office staff and Ricki and his backroom staff and should now have a clear picture of how they want to proceed.

Yes, all the talk of a feeder club is positive but thats a way down the track. First things first and that is this season!

In all seriousness what is rickie thinking. The squad is clearly very thin with pav, lia and pant all out long term. Why doesn't he do something about it. Its embarassing and we're becoming a laughing stock. They should move smith onto a full time contract for the season then make 3 injury replacment signings. I could name plenty of aussie players plying there trade in the victorian state leagues who are more then capable of filling the spots.

He is probably thinking 'I wish the owners would let me buy some players'. Also he is probably thinking 'who the hell that is any good at football isn't signed at this time of year?'

Ricki is just cruising. There's no expectation because of the off season issues, there's little structure around him, and he simply is just turning up. The players themselves (excluding last night) have made the best of a terrible preparation - all the while Ricki is still incapable of selecting the best 11.

Well Buff, we did not play anywhere near as well as we played in the last two games.Tim went missing, some poor defending, too many balls in the air(one of the biggest sides in the league)very few shots on goal- just about sums it up.
Has been some pretty bad comments, but I reckon we can still compete, just have to take a deep breath.Ricki needs to drop Tim and put Manny back in the midfield.

If you are old and wise you were probably young and stupid

To be fair I think when he came off the bench against MV he showed why he'd been on the bench.

Id rather watch Ward run forward with the ball and lose it , then watch the back 5 pass the bloody ball square most of the night and then finally pass it back 30m to the keeper who clears it straight to the opposition, barely forward of where we passed back from.

square balls whipped across the back aren't a problem; slow ponderous passing across the back is something a school team should be ticked off for

To be honest,I think we tried a passing game but nobody in the midfield was making any runs for the ball, the defence had nobody to pass to but themselves or to knock it long (which they were clearly trying not to do).

So many times the player in possession had no teammate within 10 yards of him. Hence all the back passes.

Greenacre was about the only one making any such run.

I think I am towards the "keep the faith and be optimistic" end of the fan specturm here. For the first 20 - 30 minutes we played some really good football. The midfield passing was good, really good at times. The finishing... could have been better.

After the half hour mark... JINGERS!

Greenacre is immense. Just don't understand how he does it. Works so so hard, and gets the worst service by far. What an absolute trooper. So much respect for that guy. Lets get some midfielders helping him out please! Still, that was our worst performance this season by far. At least in the previous defeats there have been positive signs. Onwards and upwards!

disappointing performance, I really hope the lads can pick it up for Brisbane.
Still, have to take the highs with the lows.
Would love to see them knock Brisbelona off their high horse, and carry the momentum for Adelaide @ Eden Park :)

For sure.  I am going to start supporting Roar after next weekend (if the result is what everyone expects).

And then when they lose in the ACL I will probably support Guangzhou Hengda (who will beat them).
