This. Possibly bring in Bertos for one of the forwards on the bench.

Rojas isn't fit enough to start though! Until he's fit enough I'd rather keep him coming on in the early second for some impact, seeing as he's the best impact player.. wouldn't go for 2nd best with that kind of thing.

Well, starting him could be a good way to see just how much he has in the tank for sure.

Daniel is also better off the bench than starting as well so you could use the same arguement either way.

Hmm. Bearing in mind that Rojas has been out for a very long time and is just playing his way back into full fitness again;

Option A: Bring Marco on with 30 to go, to scare the sh*t out of tired defenders

Option B: Bring Daniel on with 30 to go to noodle around, fall over a lot and wave his hands about.

I know which one my money is on at the moment.

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

exactly - thats exactly what I mean.
and also, Rojas did look like he was about to collapse at the end of the game, the 3 games he's played.
We do need to find out how much power he's got in him for a 90 minute match, but lets face it, we need the points at the moment and I know I don't want to take any risk to loosing right now.

Well, Daniel's been up to nothing recently and Rojas has been brilliant. Bertos had been playing well before his injury so it's a case of do you want to thrown Leo in the deep end and start him first match back, have Rojas' explosiveness off the bench?
Or, do you want to see what Rojas can do and know you have an experienced head on the bench up your sleeve for when you could need it to close out a match?

I'm not actually in favour of starting Daniel with the other two fit but I was just comparing the two possible ways of using him as opposed to mounting a case for him above anyone else.

19,,, not only should he be playing 90 minutes he should then be drinking and  nightclubbing until at least 5.30am and then doing the wild thing until ten minutes  before training starts  on Tuesday morning ,jeez youngsters nowadays,  pathetic!!

I'd take some convincing that bertos deserves a start over Rojas presently....young marco is doing what Bertos should and hasnt been

Fox's Ale House in the Viaduct. I should be there, already drunk from a previous engagement.

I think we should give Griffin McMaster a rare start this week.

Unlucky for him, he's been playing really well and his through ball for siggy to set Brown up was all class.

I'd say swap Ward for Ifill and bring Greenie in to cover Ifill's posi up front.

But more likely i'd say Bertos in for Ward and have the same bench.

From what Ricki has said, it definitely seems that Marco will get 30-odd minutes against GCU. That makes me think we'll line-up like this...

                     Paston
Siggy    North    Dura    Hearfield
                   Manny
                 Lia Brown
    Leo                             Daniel
                    Ifill

Bench: Marco, BigMac, Greenie, Vuko

I'd personally like to see Greenie in for Daniel (with Ifill and Greenie switching) but Ricki very seldomly changes a winning side.

Yip, out for 4-6 weeks.

Why must the article mention (as has been done for a few articles now) that Marco is of Chilean heritage? I don't see the point.

Regardless. Losing Ward will suck, but he isn't irreplaceable, I don't think we will be too badly affected by this. Do feel sorry for the man though, he was finally getting some time on the park again

Because the average Joe will read the article and go "Marco Rojas? That's not a very kiwi name, where'd he come from?"......

Tim Brown is a very Kiwi name and yet he was born in England. No one really mentions Shane Smeltz was born in Germany in articles (much) either.

Nor do they Clarify that Ivan Vicelich was born in Auckland but of Croatian heritage etc etc etc

Nevermind, I just see it as a throw away comment. doesn't really add to the article at all as its not about Marco.

Anyway, Keen to see if Leo returns to form after a break

marco's new on the scene, rather than have a separate article about him they just add it as a bit of useful info.

Gutted that Ward is out. He was in cracking form against Adelaide. The front three were combining very well....playing nice triangles and keeping the ball on the deck.
Leo in for sure....but he will need to lift his game. To me he is a little flat. Not really unexpected when you think that he has had almost continuous football since autumn 2009.
Rojas has lifted the bar for wing play at the Nix. I'm sure Leo will be up for this game.

ward out almost certainly means leo in if fit. Otherwise I would try greeny.

Think he would work alright out wide too perhaps? or with a front three, him, Ifill and Bertos all swapping about but maintaining that strong front three.

This game aint gonna be easy though.

what about Elliott? could he come back into the team.

Nothing wrong with mentioning Marco's Chilean heritage.  The name isn't your average Kiwi name so some people will wonder.  And who cares if they point out the heritage of one player and not the other.  What matters is how he plays, of course, but nothing wrong with a bit of background.

What are the chances of holding onto Ward?  Likely to leave at the end of the season?

After the last signings, the same article mentioned we wanted to resign Nick Ward. I really hope we do!

Yeah Ward needs to stick around, however I also remmeber reading he still had european dreams..
He's gonna have to step it up to get there though

On the evidence of the games he played, I think the problem is more with his feet than his face.
