Enough of this doom and gloom bye week crap. Time to get fired up for the midweek game at the ROF against the oranges.

Home record on the line, 3 points is vital really to get the season back on track.

We've got to sort the defense out, slack lapses at the back are costing us big time. North has to step-up as does whoever is plugging the gap deep in DM. Time for Brown to have a rest and think about why he goes missing for such long periods of the game.

This please:

                  Paston
Hearfield    Durante Sigmund   North
            Moosecat   Lia
   Ifill                           Leo
                  Ward
                 Greenie

Subs: Pav, Brown, Daniel, VukoScoobyD2010-10-29 12:33:49

Question:  Does the banner mean you get free pints or that the wenches are free at the BB?

Agree with this.

A little worried with our fullbacks, but that is the best combination of players available.

Allegedly

What's the gameplan for taking on Brisbane?  They're a proper footballing side, so kicking them to bits and then belting the ball down to 2 of Mac, Ifilll & Greenie (with Bertos and Hearfield chasing the play) is tempting.  And realistic, given squad resources.

I see no one is calling for the 4-4-2 formation to be dropped after a 3-0 drubbing...

I would like to see Big Mac back up front, with Greenie in behind him, it's worked well, we just need to give it more time.

Midfield, anything that doesnt include Lia, and Brown (he needs bench time to wake up again). Daniel off bench for impact at the ROF works well, everywhere else he forgets to bring the zippo. I'd even go so far as to say give Diego a start, and see if he's got any hunger in him, and see if that fires up Brown.

Defence.. well.. im not sure why North became the martyr for this, but put him back in, Disco will be needed for pace against the zippy Hi-vis & Claret attack, and hey, why not bring on Musa for a run, he may have the pace to keep up with them too, and again, if North and Dura can keep it tight in the middle, we might be onto a winner.

If we really want to fix the defence, we need to try different people, or the existing ones need to pull their heads out of their arse, and i think we've given most of them time to do that already.

Yeah.  Well, that's probably because 4 at the back is a good option against the increasingly common *-1s and *-3s, while 3 at the back isn't.

For 4 defenders against a lone target, the central defenders double up and full-backs go forward to contest the midfield, against 3 men there's the regulation extra man.  3 vs 1 means that the team is short somewhere else, 3 vs 3 means that there's nobody to clean up mistakes (or it becomes 5 vs 3 when the wingbacks become fullbacks - meaning that the team has no width and, again, a spare pair of boots in the defence).

Greenie as a lone striker? Are you kidding me? That's exactly the type of thing that he doesn't do.
By the way I don't rate Ward as a striker.

Apprentice approach - all players bring a suitcase, packed with essentials, to the match. Anyone who doesn't front gets to share a cab to the airport with Diego.
He dribbles a lot and the opposition dont like it - you can see it all over their faces. (Ron Atkinson)

I think Herbert can be a bit naive on the selections front. ie. Brown has done nothing all season but he's unlikely to be dropped . .. however remembering back he did bench Leo once or twice in the past.

starting Lia?
I'm sorry, but I don't like Lia, not at all. He's not very good.

Unless we turn up with our "A" game we could very well lose our unbeaten home record. the guys need to be fired up for this!!!

No more pissing around for half a match. They need to be 100% for the whole match. The Roar are a very good side....they will be tough to contain. To me this is the season defining match....at home against a top side.
We are good enough....we have good enough players. Its up to the coach to select the right combinations, implement the right game tactics and the team to go out and bloody well play for the whole 90+ minutes.  Go the Nix!!!

be interesting to play against a brisbane side that does'n't start the game with this as their own tactic

Has anyone answered this yet? It seems like easily the most pressing issue regarding Wednesday's fixture

It has been awhile since I have been to the ROF. Where do most of the yellow fever sit? Because I see that the zone is aisle 20 and 21? I bought tickets today and I got them in Aisle 20, Row A.
Is someone able to tell me if that is a good place to stand and sing?

Very worried about this game. They will pass rings around us while we long ball up to Pav.

Sneaky 1-0 win to us with Brisbane having 30 shots and no goals

Don't think we have to worry about Roar, it is teams like Melbourne V and Sydney.
