This obsession with playing out from the back without the defenders with enough ball skills to cope is going to cost some teams this year.

Sydney defence MIA. Cross early and often, eventually their dodgy keeper will let one fall to a striker

Hope Antonis is OK. Getting stretchered off AFTER being subbed off is a worry.  Hopefully he has just cramped up really badly.

"Terrific football from Wellington Phoenix". Not something you often hear from Aussie commentators.

Good morning sports fans! Just woke up and great news! What a start. Two thoughts:

This is the quietest match thread ever. Attendance at the game must be good :)

My A-league app says nix possession at 41%. Is that accurate?

Maybe 41% over that 5 minute period.  Over the game I would say Nix have had about 60% possession. Nix have played well and could have had a cpl of more goals

 A really great win.

Have to say that I have followed Brockie for years now and on that performance he is overated.

While I've been unable to find a working stream, following comments here and on the a-league website sounds like we've played Sydney off the park.  I hope we can take this kind of form across to Aus and win more over there now.

He did ok, faded a little in the second half.  He will definately be an asset over the season.  Totori too had good and bad moments but he too will be good over the season

Quote of the day from Mark Bosnich: "There's an old saying - you've got to win the battle before you can let your football take shine"

That is deep.

Fox guys apparently in mourning for a woeful Sydney, while praise for the Nix is coming between gritted teeth.

Manny was immense. I hope no Chinese club was watching that or he would be snapped up. First time I have seen Fenton play, lovely touch and appears to have so much time. Thought Leo did well as well

Auckland will rise once more
