Not saying Vargas isn't a bit sh*t, just saying he's better than Siggy.

Not sure if its been mentioned on here but for those who wanted LuaLua, he signed for Blackpool and debuted against West Ham over night.

Sign Vargas and put him in a Vargas - Durante - Sigmund back three. Griffiths as cover.

Lochhead and Bertos in the wide midfield slots with Tsattalios and Downey as cover.

Manny at DM where he belongs. No cover required as he will never break down.

Sanchez and Ward competing for a single creative midfield role depending on form and tactics.

Lia and Brown competing for a single midfield tough guy role depending on form and tactics.

Ifill and Greenacre up top somewhere. Maybe get Allsop over here as well and rotate them around depending on form and tactics.

That would be a championship winning team right there boyeee!

We played a back 3 last season in one game, and abandoned it at HT because we were horrible.

back 3 reminds me of the early days - and some of it was less than pleasant

Time to open the cheque book and fill our quota. Today's game has highlighted the inevitable disaster that was always going to occur with a couple of injuries and or bookings. As it stands we have no central midfield for next week and 13, maximum 14 available players.

Rubbish, I could have played in goal today and not conceded any, they were toothless upfront...

How about Paul Reid (ex Adelaide) for a injury replacement for Lia? Unattached and experienced.

Can't pick Downey. Didnt play because of a hamstring injury so you have to work on the assumption that at the moment, he is injured and not fit to be picked unless something changes mid week. So effectively you can't fill you bench because Nick the Greek would need to play RB.

lindsay could also play rb. Think Downey might be ok for next week, not Ifill though.

The flight makes me anxious though, not the best option for guys trying to heal up. I would consider leaving for perth a few days early, link up with aus based free agents

Reid is so desperate that the other night on Fox Sports he was openly begging for a gig. We could probably get him for a handful of loose change and a packet of crisps. Not a Lia type of mid though - more of a playmaker.

We do not need wide players or attacking players at this point in time.

Possibly, but not right now. We have Smith as cover. We need a DM that is going to be picked to start, or alternatively, a RB that is going to be picked to start otherwise why bring anyone in on short term? You may as well run with what you got and play 2 subs. We are that thin, and it seems Ricki has no faith in Downey or Greek so anyone coming in needs to be able to start/make a big contirubtion immediately.

Not suggesting he is a like for like swap, just that he is injured. We had Ward sitting in front of the back 4 trying to do a play makers role, Reid could slot into that position quite well I feel.

Sorry there is no evidence for saying that at present, Downey was sub last week and got on the pitch and would have been sub yesterday had he not got injured, so why say Ricki has no faith in him??

Reid would definitely be a decent short-term pick up

Won't set the world on fire but will fill in for Lia - only problem is that he'll probably get injured too

Well we either need a right back or a defensive midfelder don't we? So what about Michael Fitzgerald? I must confess I haven't seen much of him but I'm going on the logic (or lack thereof) that he's in the All Whites.

Reid definitely i would say, short term replacement for Lia won't do any harm to us!

We also need a playmaker in midfield who can pass and distribute.

If that happens, are we allowed to pick up an injury replacement for our injury replacement?

Reid would be a great option and free's Manny up to play Right Back if Downey is still knacked.

What about kiwi's playing in Oz - Ryan Devries scored quite a few in the VPL and Hayne and James did pretty well over there too.
