Yeah, I was actually just thinking that the tards game could be ideal for Vinnie and why not run the MadDog at them.Rotate the high workrate guys & forget about the draw or we'll get raped

You may be right, but it's something that Brown doesn't really have or can effectively do.

Carlos? We don't have a problem with Iffy going to play for Barbados, that is if they sort out his visa first.

Kris Bright in Auckland to hand over ASB Youth Championship trophy..

Agree that Smith is not quite high quality enough to hold down an import slot...especially when the quota goes down to 4. Ifill and Sanchez will hold down 2 of those slots next year......Greenie and Warner will go coz they are too old so that leaves 2 spots for 2 hopefully quality players....a striker and a winger hopefully.

For those who think Brown is a wasted space..think about this. He is number two in the A-League for tackles made....I think there are some people who don't  understand what a defensive midfielder is meant to do. Plus Brown is way up there in number of overall goals scored by a Nix player...which is a real bonus for a DM.

Off topic, but seriously? Is that true? I would have said that Brown's biggest failing as a DM is that he doesn't defend. Too often it is his man who seems to be under no pressure. I am very surprised at that stat.

Tackles made does not mean he is necessarily defending.

Yep!

Jacob Burns was first and Siggy was third. Leo was near top with crosses into the box.....

++++1

thats a load of crock.
He is not even playing Def Mid. he spends all the game waiting in the 18yr box, hanging around for a tap in. most of his attempted taclkes are late and result in cards.

lol, classic. trying to call someone a DM who sits right behind (and sometimes in front of) our strikers, and seagulls around the box, is hilarious.

i think the only confusion over what a DM is belongs with you and Tim Brown (if he calls himself one)

I still think that Tim Brown is a luxury we cant afford but then to be fair there are several other players that fall in that category too

Bright = targetman?

is he better than ASBP?

Permalink Permalink

think Bright would be worth bringing in for a trial - would love to see him given a chance to prove his worth.

Although sounds like he is in the Norweigan 2nd Div next year?

Permalink Permalink

Hard to tell if he is any better. I can't remember him setting the old NZFC alight and he is playing is some funny leagues at the moment (Malta?). Hard to tell until you get him in but if he wants to come home for a trial, why say no? At least you'll know for sure at the end of it.

to be honest I think his bad luck with injuries has seen his star fade a bit. I don't see why he wouldn't wanna give it a go in the A-League as it could resurrect his career (if we want him that is) and open the doors to the lucrative Asian market.

Why play in such anonymous leagues when you can play in Aus/NZ?? at least it's top tier football. Surely A-League > Matla and +/= Norway 2nd div???

Wondering why Brockie would come. He is in a secure set up owned by a zillionaire and starts each week. I doubt he would be guarenteed a starting place here

If you add up the wealth of the nix's combined owners surely it would be more then any other clubs?

The question is if they will spend their money?

Auckland will rise once more

Has anyone thought about Craig Henderson? Maybe a good chance to bring him home as he is not playing really in Norway. If I remember from the Olympics he is quick and skillful with a nice cross, plus he got rave reviews during his time in the states so i think he will be A-league level. And IF the 'nix get Killen maybe playing Brown in the forward like Nolan did at Newcastle would be quite beneficial. Excellent foil for Killen and knows how to finish. Will be a bit of a blunt attacking line but if it gets us wins and goals for the rest of the season it will be good, then we can get more exciting attacking options in (if that could ever happen under Ricki!)

He's on form. Despite whatever personal problems Ricki has with him, he's a top bloke and would fit into our mould pretty good. Brockie is close to a sure starter for the All Whites and I'd happily see him up front or out wide for the Nix.

I wouldn't say close to a sure starter (Killen, Fallon, Smeltz, Wood, Rojas, Kosta, McGlinchey sit ahead of him) but he would be one of the players in the top 18. Jeff Vader2011-12-19 22:24:49

He does play a defensive role well though, kind of like a wing back role.

In did against China did he not?

Anyway.. Brockie was pretty decent against Honduras. I'd put him in the first 13 likely to get on the park. Start him out wide.

Unfortunately for Brockie I would guess that Ricki has a tendency to select on reputation rather than form, in which case he would be behind most of the players on that list. On form, however, he'd be pushing for a starting spot, possibly ahead of Killen, Rojas, and maybe even Smeltz, and definitely ahead of Fallon.

Brockie has been one of the form players for the All Whites. I think he'd been a definite in any All Whites squad. As has been said he can cover mids, striker and has played at right wing back recently.

enough of this nonsense, he should be playing left wing back. Its his natural place

I don't think anyone should be surprised really.

When presented with identical offers (or so we were told) he chose Cold Ghost because it was back home for his wife. He then goes off to Turkey or wherever and comes back (presumably cause her indoors was not happy or some other strgange reason) and then goes to Perth and ...you guessed it... its mentioned he might leave again. What are the odds that the missus is not happy in Perth?

Shane, do you take your balls out of your wifes handbag at your own whim or do you ask her permission first?
