Plus I would add this too a clue perhaps?

Im thinking its either an Ivorian player with a similar name to someone we recognize, or a player with a name similar to a famous ivorian?

Have we had an Ivory Coast player in the League before?
edit: Of course we have- Dadi & possible Traore from GCU. And I assume Salley as well- duh

If it is Campos- he can score with an open goal so is > Torres. Don't think Terry can afford the inevitable 50m pound fee though?

Great detecting PWF - if it is correct :)   Is he eligible for a youth spot ??

Permalink Permalink

Cant find any proper details about him- hence the no wiki page. Could be a youth signing which would be interesting.

Could mean we could still bring in a more experienced CB?

Also, his agent has definite Australian ties- one more reason

So he's been playing in the Russian leagues? (Or Bulgarian? Serbian? Ukraine?)

Interesting. So I assume he was an Ivorian youth International, but hasnt been playing at that level recently. Would he be 22, 23?

And yes, was wondering where he has been playing recently?

he's 26 I think.

He certainly hasn't represented them at a youth WC.

The Bulgarian thing has us baffled as we see no record of him playing there yet most of that footage is there (according to our primary source on all things Balkan and Boxy).

Does make you wonder who the video is.

A brief Google suggests that he's represented by Zenith Sports Management (Chris Tanner, Australian representative). Are these guys generally legit?

Ahh okay.

Is quite odd there is no record of him..?

It does seem a wee bit dodgy .

But the chap in the video looks decent.

They are agents... questions will always be asked but I've hear nothing to put Chris in the same league as some of the other Aus names.

perhaps, he has been known under a different name throughout his playing career? And only since recently joining with this agent, have they used this name?

Bulgarian it seems (at least, that's where the footage is from). Also played in Israel and a few African leagues.el grapadura2011-09-22 10:24:42

Interesting.

So the real question is: When can we expect to see him in town?
Hopefully its a trial period to prove his worth

I guess he could be here early next week.

But like News said, that Youtube video has us confused, the footage is from Bulgaria and from info we've had it doesn't appear he's played there.

Great detective work mate.

Where does the UAE connection fit in tho? Agent's based in UAE maybe?

Looks like he's playing for PFC Slavia Sofia in those vids, but there's no record of him on their website.

Wierd name for a guy coming from a French speaking country.. de Campos sounds Spanish.

if someone can definitely identify what teams he is playing for in the vids, then someone could contact their forums perhaps.

Something does seem fishy..

The video was posted by his agents three weeks ago. I really hope they haven't fallen for a scam ("oh yeah, this is totally me kicking ass in Bulgaria...")

Supposedly he's also played in Israel, Tunisia and other African nations but you would hope the agents have done some due diligence.

Chris Tanner is the agent who previously scolded the Phoenix on Twitter for not signing Papa Waigo:

[quote=@ChrisTannerZSEM on 12 August]@WgtnPhoenixFC shame you missed out on Papa Waigo - he's signed for another Serie B club - silly Terry should have trusted football staff

You should check out his Twitter account. He absolutely hates Michael Cockerill! He also posted this a couple of days ago...

Yeah, and you'd also hope a successful property developer wouldn't fall for a Nigerian scam from Bahrain.

Also, the ZSEM facebook page (clearly run by Tanner) reposted the "D-day for the Phoenix" story. If Tanner is in thick with the "Phoenix Five" then this whole thing just took a weird turn.Doloras2011-09-22 11:02:00

Yeah, I thought it was Slavia too (hard to tell as there are no close-ups, but it makes most sense). But the footage is at least 18 months old (there's footage of a game with Botev, and they were relegated from Bulgarian top division in February 2010 for financial irregularities and haven't played in the top division since).

It's only one team, and our best guess is Slavia Sofia based on the footage.

Okay, now I'm worried. Checking Wikipedia from January 2009, #7 for Slava Sofia was a Brazillian fellow called Beto, who is black. I think that there is significance to the fact that this youtube vid doesn't have the commentary. I say "scam".

This is Beto that Doloras has mentioned. Do we think it's the same player from the footage? I don't really think so.

i dont think thats him, plus records of beto dont show him scoring that many goals. but then who did score them?

He's wearing 11 in the vid tho.

He is number 11 at the start of that vid
