Why does Ricki say stuff like "I should have progress on a new striker by the middle of next week" or something similar, if he can't deliver on it. Unless he's 100% sure its happening then he shouldn't say anything. Talk about giving a brother false hope!

I think he has a bit of a track record of over promising and under delivering when it comes to recruitment but, given all that is going on, I think he is due a fair bit of slack. I'm sure his intention is to simply say to the supporters the club still has a pulse and I'm working on signing up a striker.
He dribbles a lot and the opposition dont like it - you can see it all over their faces. (Ron Atkinson)

it does get a little hard trying to fully believe the club when they say- "we will make an announcement about X in the X amount of days" OR " developments to do with X are ongoing and will hopefully be finalised by X"

It does get frustrating, but yeah in the current climate I guess its hard to hope for these promises to come true.
But the positive we have to take is: at least the club are aware of whatever the situation is, and have targets for those goals, even if they dont make them.

Im at least glad that RH is still stating he wants another striker.
Would be much much worse if he said he didnt need one or if he said nothing at all

There has been progress.  We've found out both who it is and who it isn't.

An Office in Ghana?!

This truly is a global conspiracy.

We will never fully decide who has won the football.

3 contracts offered to quality strikers, let the googling begin!!

"One has got an extremely good pedigree, he's played in the Premier League. One's played in the Champions League and one's played a long period of time in a decent European competition."

Asked what style of striker he was pursuing, Herbert said he was after pace, rather than size.

"Someone who can get in behind defenders, cause problems, so we can be a little bit more mobile at the front than what we've been. I'm not saying he's going to be a midget, but just slightly different characteristics."

good signs- lets hope they are all into negotiations rather than just some players Ricki likes.

Interesting that he wants a more mobile forward. I guess the rationale is, if we wanted a big guy, we would have kept DMac or signed Mehmet. I have respect for Ricki here, he hasnt signed a big lump and is aiming high. Lets just hope he can get one of them.

If Sanchez can help steer the ship through the middle, then who knows.

My biggest issue with Ricki's pleasing aspiration for a more sleek attacking player, is the fact it WILL take time for them to gel and fit into the side, as the whole team are going to need to change their style if we are to make the most of having a quick guy up top.
We dont have much time left for this process.

Also on Griffiths, it seems like Ricki is pretty much sold on signing him. Which is strange because he doesnt seem to offer that much more than Bran. My only theory is that Ricki wants someone with A-League experience who could fill in when needed.

If signed, he would be part of the U21 players even though he already is 21?

would be nice to get a bit more details on the strikers- purely from a speculation point- like are they all free agents? And what sort of age brackets they are in.

They will either be free agents or on the outer at clubs who will let them leave for free.

It's not like the club have a history or a penchant for paying transfer fees.

Free agents or on the outer hmmm.......that narrows it down to say only 3 or 4,000 players around the world. YF closing in on the names as we speak

Yeah of course we wont be buying this new player- i was meaning for speculative purposes of course.

Nothing like a bit of player searching to procrastinate from doing something else.

This is Ricki playing the on-going YF speculation thread guessing game. Good to know he's enjoying the off season too.

Fuck this stupid game
