what's the movement like between BM2 and the first team throughout the season? Is similar to US where the seem to be able to move up and down to meet the clubs need?

Yeah it's completely fluid, more so than the US where you actually have to sign a short-term contract with the MLS side to move up

Alphonso Davies is probably a reasonable example. He played for both first and second teams last season.

Signed from Vancouver with lot more hype than Singh though, and a much bigger fee from memory.

Wowsers, they threw a lot of money at this kid. US $13.5m in base fee that could go up to $22m based on performances. Money like that could almost buy us a small rectangular stadium.

Would love to know the conditions of his contract - sell on clause, appearance fees for the NIX etc.

I hope the club inserted a Bayern friendly with them fielding a full strength side clause.

Doubt it, even if Singh was right in first team contention he wouldn't be playing the same role as Bale - Bale would be wider and Singh would be more of a no10 surely.

Also think Bale will go to China or maybe PSG or something, but doesn't seem like the sort of player Bayern would buy at this stage.

Huh?

Bayern wouldn't want a pacy winger with a lethal foot shot?

I guess they must be happy to finally be rid of Robben out after 10 years.

Yeah but Bale's 30, Bayern's rebuilding for the future and it's not very Bayern-like to splash 50 mil along with wages on someone like that

So this has to be positive as will get plenty of time with BM2 and always a chance to get called upto first team squad is a win win for him.

Yup, exactly. He's also been picking up a lot of small injuries in the last few years indicating that his best days might be behind him. Sure Robben was great well into his 30s but not many pacy wingers are. He seems destined for a club outside the current elite who are trying to make a statement, or for a semi-retirement league outside of Europe

little bit of brilliance looked straight out of his highlights package against the roar at the cake tin last season, excellent stuff

another very impressive performance, commentator said he'd loved watching him at this tournament. Bit invisible for his first 20 mins but suddenly late on he became a real option for Bayern and the ball came to him pretty damn often, some nice long range passing in there. Like DJ said he had an insane piece of skill to shark on Lucas Biglia and a big run, could have passed it to Muller for an open finish but seemed to get a little confused at the end. Played as an inside forward on the right wing - reminded me exactly of a pass-first Angel di Maria this tournament.

Most minutes out of any youth player they brought and the only one to play in all three games - something even guys like Renato Sanches and Alphonso Davies couldn't do. Insane stuff - don't think it'll happen, but would honestly not be surprised if he made the bench for either the Supercup vs Dortmund or the first game of the DFB Pokal (Lewa, Gnabry, etc are injured rn)

Seemed to become more of an option once Muller was subbed, as Singh then moved to the right. Alaba and Davies were basically overlapping on the left, forcing Singh to sit in a congested midfield where there was no real option for a pass. On the right he was pushed up ahead of Pavard (who I think must have moved to the right of the defence?) and had a lot more space.

Edit: I know someone laughed at the suggestion he could be a replacement for Muller, but he did a pretty decent job in a little cameo against AC Milan.

Thought his off the ball running was very good. It opened up space and options for others.

He still looks a bit nervous at this level. But showing real potential. Time in the Bayern environment will be fantastic for his development and career going forward. Wish him all the best.

I actually don't know whether or not I should be hoping that he makes the bench for those first few competitive matches.

One thing is playing in a pre-season tournament, another thing completely is to play in a Bundesliga or SuperCup match.

I'm just worried if he makes a mistake or doesn't do well, it could thwart his development and kill his chances of doing well later (think Keegan Smith for a minute).

This being said, he's rubbed shoulders with some of the best in the world and so far he's held his own.
I just think a few games in the third tier wouldn't do him any harm.

Keegan Smith was plucked out of school to play A League by a nut job coach and it was highly questionable whether Smith had the skill in the first place.

Doubt Bayern would be doing anything that may harm his development you just have to trust that if they play him they think he is up to it. Maybe he is thriving on rubbing shoulders with some of their big names could even be he is ahead of where they thought he may be.

Singh did well for us in a team, that did not often dominate the middle of the park. Singh in a team that does might be a completely different prospect.

Bayern currently habe only 17 players in their first team. For what ever reason they can’t get the top players they want. I hope he gets a lot of game time in the 3rd division to stay match fit and then get a chance for the 1st bench when there are some injuries or they rotate players to not overload them.

If you followed a bit this USA Audi Tour, must be quite a surreal experience for him to be part of.

BTW: FC Bayern II lost in front of 7.7k against Wurzburger Kickers 1:3, I’ll put that down to a lack of quality attacking midfield:-)

Does the Bundesliga transfer window stay open beyond the first one or two games of the season? If Bayern are still trying to fill their roster that could play a part in whether Singh gets a spot on the bench for the first team.

I watched the training as well - seemed a little on the outer with the other players... but that's probably more to do with the fact he is still establishing relationships.
