Imagine they will back themselves to get win Prem this year. Kind of feel bad for Upper Hutt now as it'll make it harder for them to get back up
Shame they never linked up with that Karori nature sanctuary. Then they could have gone back to calling themselves Zealandia again.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.
I think it will have benefits to the club - at the rate they were going it would have been tough to go beyond making up numbers in the central league ... If they ever got back. And no doubt there will be spin offs for the juniors and womens. Looks like a win win really.
How will it work in practice? The Nix websites says both their sides will play under the WU banner, surely they wont be allowed to play any actual contracted Nix players who currently play in the ASB side as they are professionals.
It will be very interesting to see how it is all put together.
Amazing how much the Nix have grown in the last twelve months.
Utd's poor financial state I guess was a main contributor to selling out and taking out the cost of running the first and second team. I'm sure the club admins won't miss what a headache that is.
I hear players who played all their senior football for utd didn't get told a thing during the process and are pissed. Sounds like their phones are running hot from other clubs though.

Does this make any more realistic to build at Newtown Park? The athletics track (and the locals) would be the main sticking point and Council as the asset owner of course.

It's no secret that WU have struggled financially for some time and having been somewhat involved there over the past 6/7 years it doesn't come as much of a surprise. The few people who had admirably kept the club (marginally) afloat for the last ten years were fighting a losing battle. I feel for them and the loyal first and reserve team players who managed to maintain two reasonably competitive teams in the top teirs of Wellington football. In saying that most of them will understand the decision which would have been incredibly tough to make in an emotional sense. Of course the club will benefit in other ways so no doubt it's an exciting time for those who will be involved.
Fuck this stupid game
Smithy
Ole vs. the Phoenix ...
It's the same sales pitch though: it'll be great for both sides, there'll be all these amazing spin off benefits for everyone, it will be incredible.
Nek minnit...

More focus on improving facilities and value for social teams that do fork out a bit of coin each season?
So heard the deal is Nix take control of the first team. Closed shop. Non-pro players to make up the team,
