Wellington Phoenix are on a roll and gathering momentum, we now have 7 days to get over the hypothermia and get ready to face Perth Glory next Friday the 22nd, ( midnight in fever land).
Perth will be very tough at home but this week the Glory face the week from hell.
They play Melbourne on Saturday, Adelaide on Tuesday and then fly home to face the mighty Phoenix on Friday night.
3 games in 6 days, that could be the slight advantage we need to make it four in a row.
The press in Perth were writing about this game at the beginning of the week and with Dadi now playing for Phoenix they're predicting fireworks.
Hopefully Dadi will be setting them off.

Browny out yes? Will be interesting to see if Lia and Muscat take up a partnership and then Ifill and Bertos will be given more defensive duties with Greenacre hopefully coming back in..

No Brown is still available. Yellow suspension is 8 not 5 after round 21.
Dadi possibly out though, as stated in another thread - 15 stitches.TopLeft072010-01-16 00:40:16

3 hours from Perth to Melbourne (no daylight saving time used in WA) and 2 hours from Melbourne to NZ.
12am NZ = 7pm Perth.

When Perth released Dadi did they put a clause in the contract that 'Dadi can't play AGAINST Perth for the remainder of 2009/10 season? I know many UK clubs with mid-season loans and transfers put this clause in many times.

Yip sorry for not making that obvious. Dadi would be a big blow. Wonder why Greenacre wasn't ready last night?

Haha, it was obvious really! Losing Dadi would be a real shame. Especially as so many players score against their own club. I wouldn't have made a bet at the start of the season on Brown not getting suspended by now.
I'm hoping that Greenacre isn't in the starting 11. Same team please (if possible).

If Dadi is out he's the obvious replacement.
Will be very disappointing if he is, though, i'm sure he wants to get one back on Mitchell..
Can't see anyone playing with 15 stitches in their face though.

The conditions didn't suit Dadi last night and apart from the goal really didn't have anywhere near the on-ball impact (did attract attention) he did last week. Would be looking forward to drier grounds so hope this is a bit of early notice / pessimism and he IS available for next week - whats a couple of stitches in the head - it's not as if he has a broken leg or pulled muscle - needs to toughen up!!
Be interesting to se what line up Rickie gos with if Dadi not around and Greenie back in mix.

I think we'd be fine with Greenie in there instead of Dadi. Like you said, Dadi didn't really do much (though it was a well taken goal) and we won 3-0. Costa did a good job when he came on and we didn't lose anything.

Reddy
Durante Mckain
Hearfield Lochy
Manny Brown
Ifill Bertos
Greenie Dadi

Crow
Lia
Caceres
Costa/Daniel
Lia I thought played OK last night but I feel Manny and Brown were better.
We need to have Dadi play with Greenie at some point and feel that with the travel we should be looking a little more conservative this week. especially with the turn aorund after Perth.

I agree, Costa has some big potential but is not there yet.
He has speed but he needs to build more on his positioning, runs and getting the ball to his feet / holding up possession than trying to rely on simply out-running defenders. You look at our key players Ifill a case in point - he is probably one of the slower on the field but holds possession well, makes room for himself and knows what to do with the ball.
I would be disappointed to see Costa as a starter next week - prefer Greenie but suspect we will use the stitches for a bit of media playmanship and Dadi will be in starting squad.

I think anyone in the starting 11 wold be spewing to have an injury that forces them to miss a game - there is so much talent sitting in the wings they may struggle to get back in. A great spot to be in with particularly players like Caceras, Sigmund, and Greenie all waiting their chance and you sense they will do well when they get it.
Having said that - hard for Ricki to change the squad given the results but do like the smitzzy11 lineup - Sigmund no even make the bench :
Reddy
Durante Mckain
Hearfield Lochy
Manny Brown
Ifill Bertos
Greenie Dadi
res.
Crow
Lia
Caceres
Costa

neither brown or muscat can actually pass the ball.
if lia is dropped then we have no distribution from the middle.
he wasn't very good in the first half (no one was though) vs nth qld, but watch him in the 2nd. he moved the ball around well and played some great crossfield diagonal balls.
seriously, he is the best of the options we have at CM.

I think out of the 3 DM's, Manny offers the least. If one is going to be dropped to allow for Greenie, it has to be him.

I disagree, I dont know about Craiga but I know Valeo that you watch the games on the tele and perhaps I am taking something a bit different from the games watching them live.
Manny is playing a completely different role to Tim and Vinnie so to lump them all together and say we can drop one of them to make way for Greeny for my way of thinking isn't quite correct. It would need a change of role (back to what they were playing before for Tim and Vinnie) if we dropped Manny.
I would hazard a guess that since Manny has been at DM Vinnie has been much more involved in and around the box and it has allowed him to open up his passing game more (he is the best passer of the ball in our team for me).
I think the best thing about the last couple of weeks is that we have shown we have a couple of formations up our sleeves. We could easily play a 4-4-2, stick with the 4-3-3 or even go back to what it seemed we were playing earlier in the season a 4-2-3-1. For me I would like to see the 4-4-2 get a chance with Greeny and Dadi up front if they are both fit to play. And despite my comments prior about Manny and the other 2 Manny would be the one who went to the bench and Vinnie would go back to the slightly more conservative game.
Isn't it wonderful having all these options, I think we can legitimately say we have guys on the bench or not even in the 15 who would comfortably make most other match day 15s in the league.
