Its no longer a problem.

Don't we want Sydney to win- they already have an ACL spot- then we beat Melb and are guaranteed an ACL spot when we make the final, no matter the result?

We don't get an ACL spot, no matter what we do.

yea but we dont even come close to having enough eligible players,so will most likely have to withdraw. afc knew this when they made the contradictory rules for us.

Interesting to see News fighting the good fight on the Cove forums. I think some of these Aussies need to be reminded that Singapore used to have only one pro team, in the Malaysian league, and it wasn't until Singapore had won the Malaysian league four times that they thought the time was right to start a Singapore pro-league up. So, four toilet seats for the Nix and then we'll take the NZFC professional. :)

I'm surprised the wheels aren't being put in place to do this already.

Do you ever read what people say in response to your posts?

I don't really give a f..k to be honest.

If people have explained something multiple times after you've made suggestions/asked questions then you should read the reply, give a f**k, and not post the same stuff over and over.

And if Melbourne makes the final against us we can still make the ACL by beating them.  If they play Sydney in the final, regardless of the result, they'll get an ACL spot by either a.) winning, or b.) being runner up in the league to the team who also won the final.

The Phoenix could sign a number of players short-term couldn't we for the ACL?

Say we had Siggy, Ifill and Greenacre (assuming it's 3 foreigners, I think it is) then would it matter that, say, Paston was still a member of the Phoenix, being a Kiwi and all, if he wasn't in the squad to go and play ACL?  Or would they rule that he's another foreigner along with Mulligan, Bertos, and Rojas?

Whatever the ACL status is I don't know and don't care heaps really. Just play the game this week and worry about that issue if/when it's a concern. I'll shut up about the Oceania/CONCACAF thing, but I do have something up my sleeve for that, so when that's covered, I'll let you guys know.

Until then, let's focus on the games at hand, agreed?

There's always the option of signing extra players on temporary contracts to meet the requirements.

Guess if we find ourselves in that position it would be a cost v. benefit decision for Terry.

oh the irony if we signed ACFC players up. there would still be the same barries as a nix reserve side in the nzfc, but i bet the knitting circle wouldnt complain about their players playing in the acl for 1 or 2 games.

The whole point of signing temporary players would be to get up our number of Asian (i.e. Australian players) in the squad, so ACFC wouldn't be the place we'd be getting such players from.

Lee Ki-Hyung.

He failed to make the grade season one, but he might be okay in a lesser comp like the ACL.

Im quite sure i read in the article that Australians would count as foreigners...and NZers as locals.

There's the Aussie Postina as well.

The original AFC release did say NZers, but that release got pulled when it was pointed out that it contradicted itself.

Oh right. Well thats a lot better then. Always found it hilarious that theyd contradict themselves in such a way.

so back to the actual topic of what other teams thinki of us, Culina seems to me to be a little scared, moaning that this weeks game isn't a fair playing field as we have ,,ore internationals than he does.....reckons that one day the nix team could be the allwhites team.

And how is that uneven?  ....the All Whites have hardly been a difficult team for others to beat in the past.  Two of the Aussies in the Phoenix weren't internationals and now  due to their time playing in a club that is not based in Australia, how exactly is that bad for Aussie football, Culina?

His comments are nothing more than pre-match sledging and mean he can say, "I told you so" if Newcastle lose.

And even if we have all those thousands of All Whites internationals playing for the Phoenix if we do a population base comparison then surely NZ (4M) is as unfair as Syndey (4M) as far as eliglible pool of people who can play football.
Yep its simple sledging and doing him no favours

Anyone else enjoying the irony of the Croatian-born Culina compaining about foreigners being allowed to be involved in an Australian league?
