If Robbie Fowlers name/face isn't used in all the Nix marketing this week they will have seriously missed a trick.

Sydney seemed to get it right last week, promoting the game as John v God. We don't have a player with the profile of Aloisi but the precedent is here. Fowler will bring in A-League sceptic Poms who will pay to watch him. Will also bring in folks down for the ABs game on Saturday, because Fowler is a name they will recognise

Yeah lets hope they make a special poster, rather than just the stock standard ones. There good, but you need to get Fowlers face out there somewhere.

So we can have an extra 20 or 30 red shirted ex-pats in the away bay who won't normally support the A-League let alone the Phoenix ?

I have a mate who is travelling to the game in January for FowLOLer.

Reckons there are going to be more Liverpool fans there than Phoenix ones.

Might set fire to you.

If we want a home game and a home atmosphere, actively encouraging Eurosnobs who will never follow the Phoenix is a waste of resources.  If someone wants to come from Townsville wearing Green and white then welcome them with open arms.  Someone who lives in Wellington and looks down his nose at the A-League because 'it's not as good as the Premier League' turning up because of Fowler I can do without.

Do we need the money ?  Possibly ?  Do I want to share a stadium with people with that attitude ?  Definitely not.

Note, before people get their backs up, I am not referring to the Liverpool supporting Phoenix faithful.  However, I would be VERY disappointed to see any Phoenix fans turning up in Red because of Fowler though, that to me would be tantamount to supporting North Queensland.

My Charlton shirt is bright red (though I'm not an expat).  Shall we make it a "wear your EPL colours" week. (or League One colours, as the case may be).

Post of the day and I understand what you are saying. Where are they when we need them, such as at every home game?
Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!

I'm going to have to respectfully disagree with you on that one. If 50 show up and 10 decide to get over their attitude problem then that is 10 hopefully members we never had before. And like I said I just dont think we can be picky.

But in fairness the Fowler campaign may work on out of towners who aren't necessarily Nix fans but will come to see Fowler because of his rep and this was the point I was trying to make.

Yeah i think the Fowler factor will bring in more casual followers of the game, just because of the name( like the Beckham situation, just to a much lesser extent) ,rather than just Liverpool supporters.

On a side note, Do people think that the Test Match the night before will be a blessing or a curce

Eg. Out of Towners coming down making a weekend of it and deciding to stay on the extra day to wactch  a game .

Or People saying Nah i went there last night cant be bothered going again.

Hate to say it, but im thinkng more toward the second option

Floyd Mayweather fight is on at the same time as Phoenix on Sunday as well, I know a couple of people who might miss the game so they can watch it.
