Hearing we signed from Nix and MacArthur left back/winger Walter Scott.

He did quite well last season with the Bulls and scored in the Asia champions league also, so good competition in that left back spot with Mcgarry (if history is anything to go by, his body will not last a full season and has a history of injuries).. at 26 years old, will fit in that mid age players the club has been after, and he’s familiar with Rafa Duran, who he assisted twice last season at the Bulls.
I may have this one horribly wrong, or maybe I just have a shit memory - But aren't there some familial ties between both yourself and Scott?

Apologies if not. I just vaguely recall someone on here having a tie to a recent Macarthur player. 😅
Yes, he is in fact my brother in law :D.. so i can offer any juicy goss i can get from him :P
Good to know I have a terrific memory and got this spot on then. ☺️

So when you say you've heard we've signed him, you mean he's told you? That's great. Love it.
I have an amazing ability to find my way out of mazes. I'm pathological.

keeping a secret around here is harder then keeping the Phoenix signings under wraps with people checking instagrams, cross referencing it with Transfermarket & then cross-referencing that with the players height :D

From memory, I'm pretty sure Walter Scott was played further up the field for some Macarthur games last season? If so, might end up as our Armiento replacement - hopefully he's equally as successful in front of goal!

The good old days. He was a good yarn at the Christmas parties.

One of the reasons i prefer this forum than some of the other social media is some of the stuff is here way before anywhere else.. At least here you are normally getting abused by someone who has been around a while. Shame is its so rough to use at times and barely used by some.

Damn they've kept those on the down low! We only heard about Scott through a brother in law! The visa 10 is completely unsighted. Any guesses on who it might be?? Exciting 😊

The way Greenacre was talking, hoping it would be done by last night, makes me think it is possibly someone currently contracted to a club. So needed to get it done before the window shut tonight.

It’s a lot less coarse and makko than some forums. And yeh, it’d be good to get a few more people on board, both here and at the games! Or on Nix Tok or wherever the next thing is…

So the cut-off is midnight tonight?

Someone asked the Phoenix if there will be more than the 2 promised tomorrow. The person asked three by Thursday and the club account seemed to agree.

I imagine that player for Thursday could be an attacking substitute then.

Worth keeping in mind these aren't  guaranteed to be players for the men’s side. Could possibly include first scholarship player of the year?

Yes & no. If a player current is contracted to a club, either a transfer has to be completed by midnight or they obtain a release from their contract before the window shuts.

After tomorrow, only players who were uncontracted when the window shut can be signed.

Deals don't have to be announced before the window closes, so no issues with waiting to announce the signings tomorrow. As long as the paperwork for any contracted player signed is lodged before the window closes.

You would think if it’s a player who could make and break the league at 10, then a loan may be the option.

Auckland will rise once more

I got a sense from Greenys interview yesterday it was someone he needed to get done before the window closed.

Sorry just a thought- did any of the South Island team boys do anything in the OPL to warrant inquiries? Nobody follow the OPL to the A League route?

Feutz, Yoo & Zeb are probably the 3 SIU players that would have been looked at by the Nix or whoever. Feutz has trialled at the Jets previously.

That trio might need to wait for a South Island A League club to happen.

I think all 3 are now either in the NSW or Vic NPL leagues. Feutz in the NSW 2nd tier?
That might be because once that comp finishes, he'll have a break before playing OPL again. A first tier NPL club may not have been keen on him playing OPL (which runs for about half the NPL season).

I'd say Feutz especially, is more deserving of a ALM gig than OVH, who was a bit of a nothing in the OPL. But the Nix went with Riley Bidois

To be fair SIU were pretty average in the OPL compared to winners Auckland FC, who had Normann, Wynne and Prins move up to ALM deals. Some others like Fitzharris as well who were already around the ALM squad.

I fear mystery number 10 is Oskar Van Hattum

Foreign attacking midfield, not Oskar Van Hattum. This could be the last foreign starter signing, tomorrow, they got Max Anderson a starter, attacking midfield next. I imagine the last, unless they get someone younger to start over Kazuki Nagasawa and to replace him after this season. (Depending on time that would take to secure before round 1.)

If its Van Hattum - I'll be seriously disappointed.. the guy offered nothing at the Nix and looked no better in pretty poor standard league (OFC). Also is he not halting a development path for an academy player who could come through and potentially net the Nix a fee in the future. Begging its a rumour.

I see a number 10, Ronan Darcy, is following the club and Transfermarkt is showing him without a club. Last played for Crawley Town so may just be following now Max Anderson is in the team

Looks to be able to make room for himself & looks to pass forward based on his 2024 Highlights.

Was earning $336,500 USD this year, so not just some squad filler.

I noticed last night that he was following the Nix on instagram.

Looks like he could be a pretty promising signing
