I’d love us to put this away emphatically in regular time and send a shiver through the competition. Be good for all of us!

.... seriously, this team are capable of so much. if we show some of the earlier season form tomorrow night, we have a chance.

since this is a happy thread, i won't bother mentioning the (obvious) other side of that equation

Early season, but not too early season, right?
We start shark and we finish shark but boy we give people some hope for a few weeks in the middle there

As Doloras commented elsewhere, "nostalgia is dangerous and contagious".   I am nostalgic when it comes to vaguely remembering how a decade ago we were capable of winning a playoff game.

Actually, getting outplayed quite a bit these days

I could handle a loss here (and expect it) but I want a fight from us. Take it to the 80th min or later.
I have an amazing ability to find my way out of mazes. I'm pathological.

Looking at goals conceded, Adelaide have been even worse than us over their last ten games and have conceded twice as many as us over their last two games.
They have also had exactly the same number of wins over their last ten games (four wins for each side) and over their last five games (one win for each side).
ADELAIDE:
Last two games: 8 conceded (one loss, one draw)
Last five games: 12 conceded (two losses, two draws, one win)
Last ten games: 22 conceded (two losses, four draws, four wins)

WELLINGTON:
Last two games: 4 conceded (one loss, one win)
Last five games: 12 conceded (three losses, one draw, one win)
Last ten games: 19 conceded (four losses, two draws, four wins)

We'd be facing Melbourne City. It says 12-14th and we're the second semi so most likely 13-14th of May then?

This is great info.

Of course we’re underdogs but imho it’s only a little below a 50/50 shot. I can’t imagine Adelaide supporters being much more confident than we are.
First goal could be massive here for confidence given both teams aren’t really firing on all cylinders right now

Crikey what a difference a win makes. Even a scratchy one over a poor MAC side.

Actually think this is how it will play out. I'm expecting a very scratchy performance from the outset for both sides to be honest.

But with the onus so heavily on Adelaide to come out and win I can see them going hell for leather from the get go. They'll know if they can grab a goal or two in the opening half hour they'll be safe, given our relatively toothless and profligate performances in the final third so far this season. ⬇️

How many of those were Kosta?

Big chances missed
Zawada 1️⃣1️⃣
Kosta 7️⃣
Ball 6️⃣
Sasse 6️⃣
Kraev 5️⃣

You can almost forgive Zawada & Kraev because they've scored 15 & 7 each.

From the rest of the guys up top though that's just not good enough - If you're missing more than you're scoring then you aren't doing your job properly.

Some may say that's a bit harsh, but there has been some right dollies that've gone begging this season, which is part of the reason why we crawled into 6th rather than fight for a higher finish.

Take into account the minutes on the park - After he stopped scoring Kraev was benched and once he came back he has not scored.

Apart from MacArthur and Roar, 1 & 3 games ago, you have to go back to game 4 on 30 October, to find another game he started on the bench.
And of the attackers, I think only Zawada has played more minutes.

Heading into the Adelaide CBD now, the nerves and PTSD from previous matches at Hindmarsh/Coopers are very much kicking in.

Arguably the biggest game in Talay's reign, if we bow out, let's at least go out kicking and screaming 🙏💛

I'm glad it's Adelaide rather than a Melbourne or Sydney side. I just think the away fans will be less of an issue.

Either way, it'll be nearly midnight when this one's over. NZ Time that is. That's a decent time to be out!
Spain '82 is where it all really began for me. There were a few moments before, plenty of moments after, but that World Cup was the zeitgeist.

I did not check the stats (went with my failing memory) so if you did, all good.  I am just missing seeing "the" Kraev, of early in the season.

At first I was a bit gutted to see Kraev on the bench but realistically the players want this to succeed even more than us fans. If we can hang on until the 50th/60th mark and find ourselves still in it. Kraev could be the perfect injection of flair and intensity for the final 30 minutes. Fire off the bench is something we've lacked but it's finals football time and lord knows we're due.
