If you install a VPN (e.g. NordVPN, Mullvad, Surfshark etc) and connect to a country that doesn't have a TV deal for the A-League like Japan, you can watch the games for free on the KeepUp youtube channel.

Opera browser comes with a free VPN installed and ready to go.

I should note that keepup are pretty slack with making sure the games are on the channel in time for kick off.

I always find it funny when ounters complain about the cost of access to the sport they supposdly love, especially when the also complain that the big corps wont spend the money to sponser the club.

So bloody hyped for this season. I am excited to see a new style of football.

What I am looking forward to this season:

If I knew the $45 would go into the football I like to watch I would pay it, but most of the money will go into Rugby, Cricket, etc. For the $45 I’ll not even get a halftime show, instead I’ll have to watch advertising. I’m happy to pay for single games but that is not in Sky’s business plan.

That's how subcriptions work, all those rugby, motor heads paying for sky and funding the football must be hating it!

I wasn't paying super close attention during preseason but at the end of last season Chiefy said he'd be definitely setting up in a different shape to Uffie, are we still playing his 4-2-2? I was so heartily sick of that.

Despite a somewhat grim feeling about the place, I choose to be optimistic going into this arvo. In particular, I'm looking forward to seeing our youngsters go toe-to-toe with Australia's best. It's not going to be champagne stuff, but hopefully we can aim up and give a good account of ourselves. 

Intrigued to see how we manage tactically on a warm afternoon in Western Sydney as well - it's 30 degrees at the moment about 10kms from the stadium according to the brother at the minute.

 I think its a shift from a 4-2-2-2 to a more traditional 4-4-2 with wingers. But we will see this afternoon!

There's never a right time to say to your fiance "Actually, babe, the Phoenix season starts today," but certainly not when following up on their previous statement of "It's been so nice im the weekends the last couple of months not having to plan any activities around when you've got ya bloody sports on."

No help. Why wouldn’t they post a formation?

Well the obvious reason would be to not help the opposition set up for the shape they'll be playing 

I feel like the social media admin just guesses the formation anyway, doubt they're sitting in on the team talks

After seeing the startup and the bench in front of me, I'm less optimistic :-) We gonna be destroyed, our attack is good, midfield decent but the back four will get schooled.
For the record, I don't buy the whole academy narrative from the club. There is no way the academy can produce 4-5 A-League ready players for a team and compete. They don't want/have to spend the money simple as that.

All I'm saying is after a very quiet off-season with transfers and fixtures, I'm not expecting the world from the boys straight from round one. We have a storied history of starting poorly, but still making the six.

So long as they look like they give a damn out there, that's all that matters at this stage IMO
