love the commentators asking why Pennington can use his body on to shadow the ball when they make no comment on the two blatent fouls in the centre of the park when we have had a break away.

Paulsen for MoM

I know he did pretty well when he had to step up last year, but I was nervous about him being our number 1.

Now I am a lot less nervous.

We looked solid defensively which is a step in the right direction for mine.

Paulsen player of the season.

Hopefully it's a tight race between him and Zawada.  Zawada for scoring an insane number of goals and Paulsen having an insane number of clean sheets.

Cos Harpers a twit. The WSW player has to ask why Pennington is allowed goal side or some typical BS.

Im happy to take a point for the first away game.  Looked good in defence maybe we are lacking a little creativity but its early days.  Good start boys

Well as a professional footballer he really shouldnt have let his game drop as he did.

Paulsen and Wootton immense. And all the others.
It worked today.

But think we were about equal on really good chances. Easily could’ve nicked it.

We need a little more going forward- maybe that’s going to be Supyk or Old. I’m not sure.

I’ll worry a little when they’ve either got a winger or CF with a little more about them than we saw today. Still think our defensive flanks are our weak point and someone with just a little more pace or trickery could hurt us.

First look of Chiefy ball- go get a beer boys, if you’re over 18, you’ve earned it after that shift!

Must be the tallest starting line up ever fielded in the Nix’s history?

A very dire watch, but can’t fault the dedication and the boys in defence.

Defensive Flanks:
Payne/Pennington excellent. Didn't see a cross from their side.

kelly-heald as well on the left hand side, very strong performance for a young lad who prefers CB.

kelly-Heald is a great young player. By the end of this season he'll be a first choice New Zealand International.

Solid start to the new era. Will absolutely take the point. Hopefully just setting the building blocks in place for a solid platform. Still not sure where the creativity comes from though.

I will take a clean sheet draw in 30 degree heat to start the season any day.
Was it pretty no is there plenty to work on yes, were there some good things yes along with some not so good.
Certainly not as dire as some are making out and I for one am looking forward to where they can take us.
As an aside bloody hell we have some negative sharks who claim to be Nix fans posting  across social media.

Well 0 goals conceded against MV away and WSW away.

For sure we'll concede but the opposition know that it'll take something pretty special to beat us.

First game of the season, I wouldn't read too much into it to be honest.

I would rather take the defensive solidity and build from there any day of the week than be served up the porous nonsense we've become accustomed to over the years.

I've complained about Kosta every week since he came back last season but he actually looked today like he has a bit of extra something about him from the few touches he got.

Some of the best defending I've seen in years. The urgency to get back and to get onto crosses before opponents was great to watch.

Well Exactly!... Didn't we just lose 4-0 Away against WSW with our first rate team, with our top quality coach. What a lot of B...

Chuffed with that, don't care if you think those happy with the result are accepting "low standards". Good first example of Italiano's gameplan in difficult circumstances

Personally very happy about that result, a point to start the season is never a bad outcome. Defense looked good, far batter than I thought it would.

It's a shame that that game itself was kind of boring. That's on WSW too though.

OK. In my opinion we're starting afresh with something that will be a lot better than we've previously had.
It won't be perfect to start with. But I think the end point is an NZ team that competes at the very top of the Australian League.
