Shaun Evans bs starting. Cheap call against Zawada at one end and nothing on Kraev at the other.

it's annoying but commercial arrangements are just that! The sponsors pay money to get their name seen, the club takes the money and has to honour the committment. All we can do is voice our displeasure and hope the club changes it next season.

So you say to sponsors there are 2 strips, a home strip and away strip.
If you prefer to have your name seen in the stadium at home and on TV, then front up with more money than the other lot and ask for it to be in the yellow shirt.
If you are happy enough to have it seen in Aussie stadiums and on TV, ask for your name on the blue shirt.

Simple concept.

jesus, Grant shoves Kraev in the back and the ref dowsnt notice!
Ridiculous!
Then commentators say Kraev was optimistic looking for a foul... Was as clear as can be.

sure, I agree, but when the club is desperate for money they probaby dont have a lot of options to demad anything from sponsors. The power probably lies with the the companies willing to art with their money.

I know we love him but I like strikers who can strike.

That said, 'twas a lovely goal last week.

Grant is a thug! drags Balll down by the shoulder, no call, then in a melee of feet, he stamps on Zawada's foot, no call no yellow! Guy leads a charmed life.

his scoring record hasnt been flash, but then he has been played wide for a long time and only this season has he been in the front two strike roles, he does so much other work which a front man normally wouldnt which adds to his value to the team. I'd love more goals from him, but I be unhappy if scoring more meant he did less of his "grunt work".

See also the two handed push in kraev's back. Guy is a dirty fudgeer

and yet somehow gets away with most of it. Only 4 yellows for him this season.

Eish, how did we butcher that?

Idk why Kraev made the angle harder for him there should've stayed more central

Lots of space available between kraev and Lewis. each is only loosely tracking runners or closing space.

that's the 4th foul that Grant has committed, still no yellow for him!

Wasn’t that what Sasse got red carded for? Cleaning someone up with the trailing leg?

yeah, except his foot hit higher up, still not sure how Sydney ended up with the ball when Caceres fouled Lewis?

Sydney resorting to shoving us in the back as their main way to break up our play, time for some yellows ref.

1-0, solid first have, we should be 2/3 up, but I'll take the lead as it is, we defended well. Just need to put away another one and hold on tight,

Think it was a foul from the earlier challenge.

interesting, didnt know you could waive play on and the stop play for a foul and pick the earlier one as why you stopped play.

Good half lads. Defensively solid, really scrapping for each other and covering in behind the man going for the duel. Need to keep that intensity going because Sydney will come for us as this game wears on.

Should be three to the good, Redmayne with a couple of clutch saves first from Bally after that wonderfully worked move, and then Kraev gets it caught under his feet 1v1 and scuffs his shot.

Still super impressed with the nous and patience it took to wear Sydney down for our goal though. Super smart to take advantage of the situation with Yazbek off for his head knock, but a lovely ball from Clayton and a nice composed finish from Zawada who has been really good for us up top.

Come on lads. Keep it up, we need these three points!

Rufer the missing piece??

Safe in possession, one or two nice passes and a couple timely challenges.

couple of things with the re-introduction of Rufer, first, he and lewis play different games which means they are not fighing for the same space like Ugarkovic and Lewis. Rufer is more defensively focussed giving Lewis more space. second, Sail is no longer worrying about the fouls and the ref, he is focussed on his role as a keeper and suddenly routine saves look routine!

Bit worried about this one lads. Haven't taken our chances and sydney still in it. The ref is not calling any fouls for us - Sydney should definitely have a yellow by now. Sydney will continue to foul in the second half so if the ref doesn't start showing the card we will be in trouble.

Fingers crossed the subs will make an impact. I'll crack another at the start of the half and hope for some good luck. Let's go!

we've scored 1 of three shots on goal - that's about standard, yes the two shots saved should have been scored, but the keeper did well and they werent it haoppens. In a pretty even half we've done what's necessary and youd expect we'll come out and try and fo the same. Sydney will come out firing and like you say hopefully the ref is watching for the typical Grant thuggery. So happy Brattan is not there today - he always screws us over.

I think our subs will be able to sway the second half back in our favor. Sydney's bench looks really weak especially after making that forced change. We've got Old, Sasse and Ugarkovic all capable of making solid impact.
