Want us to win of course, but I hate that if we do, we will be doing Auckland a favour regardless of whether they win, draw, or lose against City tomorrow night.

Agreed, but we got to forget about them. Our situation is far more important. As long as we beat them on the 21st Feb, I couldn’t care less.

"I think where I'm going to steer the team in for the next maybe five to six games is go back to a more tactical focus on opposition. Something that I used to do in the first year quite well."
- Italiano, pre match interview.
Sounds like a return to defending and trying to score on the break. Good ploy vs a stronger team, and should suit Eze, LBS, Armiento, and maybe Mileusnic.
Still wondering though if that 'I' should read 'we' or even 'Adrian'.

Very big development that the high line back 5 is no longer the default/plan A system

Still no Oluwayemi, or Edwards plus no Tuiloma.
So either one of Sheridan or LKH will likely start again. One of them to the pine to accommodate Armiento's return.

Unless Chiefy goes with 4atb Armiento - Hughes - James - Payne
Rufer - Retre
Nagasawa
Piper/Mileunsnic - Eze - LBS
I’d be interested in seeing this would be similar to how we lined up in 23/24 with Nagasawa in the Kraev role.

Why would a coach tell anyone what he planned to do???

He also played massive mind games that season. So I’d expect it’s that.

I'm no tactician but going to the Roar game live at Redcliffe, I noted how far advanced Armiento was when the ball was in Brisbane's half. It was often more a back 4, before he was sent off.

I'd say we are still playing the high line but just being more flexible about how high and where we pick up the press. And with a back three or four.

Why is Bill not in the squad?
They probably cannot include him until the registration paperwork is fully signed - otherwise we would get docked three points?

Just wanted to note the OFC Pro League clubs from NZ are subject to the same registration period as the A-League, (opening 14 Jan) so they're having to successfully register a whole squad full of players before tomorrow. Not sure why the same couldn't be done for Billy T who's already in training?

different league, different reg process, comparing OFC to Aleague is pointless.
Aleague window opened 14th Jan, so registaration process cannot start until then, if the process isnt completed before the Nix leave for Sydney they arent gonna take him in the hope that it does come through before the game.

It's not so much the 'A-League window' it's the registration periods for both NZF and Aus. so the window for Pro League clubs also opened up 14th Jan, so confirming registrations in the system can't be done until then either.

What is Josh's injury?
Fell on his shoulder making a stop. Though I thought it wasn't a full dislocation like Payne?

Oh I didn't realise he had also done something to his shoulder? I thought it was his ankle? That is at least what got him out of the gamecoochiee

It was a high ankle sprain, nothing to do with his shoulder - that was Alby.
Apologies yipe had that completely wrong.
Nix might get lucky with the Sydney weather on Sunday. Forecast rain and max low 20s. She is horribly warm & muggy here in SE QLD.

Josh not being in the squad is sad
Chatting to him after the Adelaide game he said he’s pretty close to being ready, they’re just being careful not to rush things and set him back just as he’s about to return. So hopefully not too much longer!

Apologies if I've not been paying attention but what's the situation with GSR? I vaguely recall he was injured but he's not down on the ins outs injured lists at all.
