With the long break between games, Chief is hopeful that Payne will be back for this.

Hopefully another big crowd shows up & we can lock in Waitangi Day as a fixture on the ALM calendar long term.

I'd say that with a break and playing the weakest side in the league that we should finally implement a more aggressive strategy, but somehow I don't believe that will happen.

At the very least tho I do think we can feel somewhat confident in a win

I want to be positive but Brisbane won their last game and are probably playing better than us despite where they are on the table.  Please prove me wrong Phoenix!

cant wait for a scrappy, backs against the wall 1-0 win thanks to an early Kosta goal due to some Brisbane clowfudgery in the back.

Nix to get back to attacking form. Japanese boys to score a goal each.

This is gonna be my last home game before I move for uni so I'm at the very least hoping for a win. Doesn't have to be an amazing win, would just love a win seeing as it could be quite a while before I can attend a nix game again

While there’s still no sign of a new visa signing, key defender Tim Payne has resumed training and is expected to come back into the match squad for the vital round 18 fixture.

Captain Alex Rufer also participated in some of the Phoenix’s training at the New Zealand Campus of Innovation and Sport on Tuesday, an indication that his return is not far off either.

It may be just about Rufer's participation in the coffee outing for the team that was commented on here, some days ago.

Imagine if one of the bench players from each team reffed each half. Omg. Relationships destroyed. Rufer immediately sent off. Goals ruled out.

Or the situation I had as a kid where a friend who was quite decent came to watch my game and as his dad said ‘always take your boots’. Memories a bit hazy, but I think they were really short, he scored two for them and became the centre of an unregistered player complaint!

What sort of lineup do we want to see tomorrow? I'm going to take Chiefy at his word this time that Payne doesn't start, and would have:

AKH
Sheridan Hughes Wootton Sutton
Nagasawa Roa Conchie Retre
Kosta Supyk Ishige

Seven home games, won once, scored five goals.
Thats a really really bad record. Im not predicting a win but having Payne get some minutes and hopefully captain Rufer for even just  the warm up will inspire the team.
It will be really important to score first. That would give the team confidence. If we fall behind i cant see our attack scoring twice to win
Probably going to be a 0-0 draw
