We’ve made more defensive errors than CC too. For all that Kaltak earned his red, he kept us shackled early on and we’ve made both since.

Fudge feels like it should be more than 7 given the stoppage time vs the Syndey game.

We don’t have enough RB cover to be a champion team. Payne hasn’t been able to attack up the right. Sadly.

The only thing OVH has done since coming on, is give away 2 fouls. Smh

lovely finish from Zawada, been kept quiet all night but still has the smarts to be ready for that!
1-1 is a fair reflection of this game I think. Our wide defenders havemt been great, Payne is not an RB and Sutton has struggled.

CCM losing the plot though.

what a ducking insane game! 10 minutes extra time, two red cards, and Montgomery sent as well!
CCM really let the emotions flare up and lost cintrol at the end.
We did well cnsidering the travel over the last 4 weeks, kept the scoring in every game record.
Ready for the Jets next wekend.

That second red seemed like it came off from nothing, both players holding each other.  Not sure how it fired up the CCM player enough to jab Wooton in the face.

Time for Old and OVH to stand up and produce in the positive. lots of potential but they really should be producing now after 2-3 seasons.

IMO the most boring and borish part of our game has become the pre-occupation with refereeing decisions. It used to be diving and cheating, but our sports obsession with this makes me want to follow a sport that focuses significantly more on the sport itself.

Paramounts attempts to drum up refereeing drama where there is none, or little is pathetic.

It also has a massive filter down effect to grassroots and kids football.

Here's a template:
1. Decision goes against my team, i am angry
2. Decision goes for my team, I didn't see it
3. Other team gets angry about referee, I get angry at them
4. Any questionable decision is endlessly analysed by broadcaster to generate 'content'

Where's the tactical analysis, review of playing styles, critique of player technique? Na, it's all referees.

Mcbreen admits it was studs up into his shin, and he lunged in - but because David ball wasn't injured and was able to play on, there clearly wasnt enough force and it's not a red. Have heard it all now.

One more goal for us would have been nice, but Nix v CC = 1 win, 2 draws. Happy about that. Wanted 9 points though.

If MacArthur win 3-0, we go up to 4th.

Yeh all that cowardly commentary team can ggf and I hope Uffie keeps it simple and points this out!

A poke in the eye, that is insane. I admit I'd be mad to be rugby tackled by Wootton, but he was obviously going to get a free kick.
Who nodded the ball down for Zawada to backheel in?

Oi Oi Edgecumbe... lets have a clean sheet

I must have forgotten how to read. Most of the posts I read are about tactics, player technique etc etc. Most of it errant nonsense but entertaining usually.

OvH has played 82 minutes before today, mostly coming on for the last few minutes when we are parking multiple buses and only getting 15 minutes occasionally when chasing the game and the team is underperforming.
Played 134 minutes in cup matches and scored twice.
Oldie has 495 minutes, 1 goal. That’s comparable to Barbarouses at 945 for 2 goals.
You might want to cut the kids some slack.

With his 10th goal of the season, Zawada is officially a better striker than Andrija Kaludjerovic.

This is my new system to assess import strikers; if you can score more than Kaludjerovic’s 9 goals, you’re a good signing, if you can’t, you’re a bad signing.

I think he's referencing the TV coverage.

Edit:. I see Reg already clarified that but my drunk ass was too slow.

Another crazy ending to a Phoenix game this season.

Even though we got the draw in the end, still pretty fudgeing pissed at McGarry at the moment just like I am any time a former Phoenix player scores against us. Sail made a good save to deny him a second.

While we could've done better marking him for the goal, what annoys me the most is that just like with the Jets, this is probably going to be the only other goal McGarry scores for the rest of the season.

Yeah, it's difficult for young guys to make instant impacts feeding off scraps with little to no reserve team action.

I'm sure that if OVH had a run in the side, we would see what he is capable of. Unfortunately, the season is too short, which reduces development opportunities for fringe players.

Yes and no.

Yes I’d like to hear more about the tactical battles and match ups.

And Paramount failed here. VAR would have overturned a clearly incorrect decision and it’s no secret that referees have been clamping down on dangerous play this season.

But CC play a hardnosed, combative,  entitled style and have reacted poorly on a number of occasions. Triantis kicked out at Oli after the whistle and the whole bench emptied. Moresche loses control, the fans and team lost control. Montgomery lost control too. They react badly to losing. And I think it as much comes up from grassroots- listen to the fans in the stadium going off!

CC and Paramount focused on the ref here, but they’re making excuses. They still should have won this game, we were fairly poor.

But as NUFC pointed out, bread and circuses! It was entertaining, to say the least.

But it’d have been better to have Kenny Cunningham slot a winner…

What would a better commentary team have said? Sutts v Nkololo? Our inability to attack up the right? The lack of incision from our strikers? They kept on going on about how great their midfield was and how well Farrel was doing.

That was my favourite extra time period since last season when Pennington pounced against Perth.

as an NZ footy fan, it was awesome to see how good roux and mcgarry were today.

i always rated mcgarry and thought he got a raw deal here. but i think he never got his fitness levels up.

both teams place a lot of emphasis on their wing backs

interestingly for the all whites, and worryingly for the phoenix, i reckon roux and mcgarry were significantly better than payne and sutton
