Where in relation to the port do you guys sit and what type of flags do you have to identify your group?
Sat for the first time in the port section in the weekend. Admittedly at the front but enjoyed it and was fairly tame. Must admit it was difficult to understand the chants (maybe with no roof it was tricky) so they still need a bit of work or maybe kiwis just mumble 😂

I was right behind the port with my Nix shirt on and all I could hear was the upper corner of yellow. The singing up there was the only thing good about the colour yellow on Sunday.
Highlight for me was the Harvard's at half time. Says all about the game really.
It was the same at the Western U. game, we few Nix fans there made more noise then the AFC and WU fans put together and without the need of a megaphone or getting the academy to make up the active support numbers (WU).

Aside from the drum banging by the port, the yellow fever made far more noise. Checked this by rewatching the video footage I made being sat two rows behind the port fans in the south stand.
As a Nix and aviation fan, the planes were far more enjoyable then watching us get hit for six.

“Football Australia Head of Referees Jon Moss confirmed to Wellington Phoenix earlier this week that this incident should have resulted in a direct red card,” a Football Australia spokesperson confirmed to Stuff.
“While the match officials have been instructed to increase their threshold in terms of fouls and bookable offenses this season, this incident was a case of serious foul play and should have been a direct red card.”

It’s good to know that Chief’s judgment is the same as the referees. He didn’t complain about the penalties, but he did here and the referees apologised.
Compare that to coaches who are always complaining. Maybe it’s good referee management going forward. IE if Chief complains in a match in future they should listen.

Not necessarily that it would've stopped them beating us, I moreso mean that I don't think they would've wanted to have him suspended this weekend against Adelaide

That’s in retail. In football it’s the chap with the brylcreem grease from Sydney gets the calls…
And I’m trying to see positives…
It’s a bit like the pre-Hawkeye etc cricket. You stifle an appeal for your first few half chances and chat with the umpire ‘Missing leg wasn’t it etc etc’ Then you get a slightly better shout and having established you don’t appeal unless it’s really out go all in on the appeal. Think that was from John Wright.

Apparently there is a small group of idiots (often very drunk) throwing cans in the air post a goal. Some woman got hit.
Sounds like it's getting very crowded in there and all a bit out of control. ODI cricket in the 80s.

I think they need to enlarge the port section next season. And unfortunately police that so only people with designated tickets can enter the section. Too many people trying to get in there to have the atmosphere. Also no control over who goes in.
A good problem to have at the moment but has the potential to explode unless sorted moving forward
Definitely flares after Sakai goal and security moved in quickly and roughly

The club have sent out emails tactfully suggesting that if you're in the South Stand and you don't want to be caught up in Port shenanigans, you stay well away from them

Safe standing areas is definitely on the agenda for the FRG - we have spoken about it a few times - It will be a next season thing if it happens.
