On the positive side at least our goal difference is still largely intact. Also no suspensions and hopefully no further injuries. It was a disappointing loss but not really a surprise.

Goal difference doesn't mean as much this season as you think it does. Wins are the first tiebreaker, and we're equal with CCM on that.

My gut instinct is that GD is what will cost us the championship.

That and not winning 2 or 3 games of late that we should have easily.

I think CCM are champions already.

I think that we'll win the league. We've got the best, in form, player in the league... Ben Old. We've got the best Goalkeeper.
And Rufer will be magically back in form for the last 6 games..

Make a note of this prediction everyone, see how well it ages.

CCM do have 1 more of those.

CCM played 21, won 12, drawn 4, lost 5 GF 38, GA 22, GD 16 (40)
NIX    played 21, won 11, drawn 7, lost 3, GF 33, GA 22, GD 11 (40)

Still 6 games left before we start worrying about win difference.

Against my usual time efficiencies, last night I watched the full Macarthur - CCM game just to gauge the standard.  The Bulls were no mugs, but had no answer (despite Kurto saving a penalty).  I could argue that CCM were allowed to get away with overly physical game but  argument would be useful if it was 2:1 or something like that.  At 3:0 it made me think that CCM have not really let up over their last few games.  Hence my main concern is whether we are in a similar situation, or whether we are going through a minor slump due to injuries (rather than inattentiveness or lack of focus).

Actually, getting outplayed quite a bit these days

I don't think we are slumping. But CCM's away form of late has been nothing short of terrific.
Wins away to Victory, McArthur and Newcastle in recent weeks. Is pretty impressive.

We have to coalesce all our genius and power home. We have to beat Sydney and Central Coast. If we beat Sydney, CC is going to look much more likely. Both to them and us.

We’ve left ourselves in a position where we have to beat them and have a perfect record.

I wonder how that point in Perth is looking? Or how it would be looking if we had a draw with City.

Any slip ups from here in leaves it open for CC.

The next two games for us is crucial both at home we need to be winning both of them. CCM could drop points in their next games with tricky games against Sydney away and maybe City will start to hit form with their next two games at home before CCM. If we can get any points over CCM in the next 2 games it will almost make the game against CCM a title decider.

... and that Brisbane equaliser.

Ifs, buts, maybes... no use crying over spilt milk. Win our last six games and we win the league - plain and simple. If we beat CCM we can afford a draw elsewhere as well.

True, but good teams do not set themselves a high bar for the end of the season - much like a runs rate required in cricket it can cost you later if you are dropping two points here and there.
This will not matter if the team is peaking towards the end of the season.  We've had a very good run with only three losses (Jets, Sydney FC away and Melbourne City away), so let's hope we can sustain the run.

Well at least we didn't lose 7-0. Hopefully City can keep this momentum up and beat Mariners.

When have we ever looked like losing by 7 this season?
