Agree. And Doloras try to dissuade the littlest hooligan off cricket. Love the sport myself, but supporting Black Caps (even worst the White Ferns) you are setting her up for a lifetime of disappointment! At least with football the emotional rollercoaster is over in 90 mins.

so true, if she gets into playing your sideling commitment is monimum 3 hours on a satuday morning, and it only gets longer as she grows into the game. At least with footy its only ever a 2 hour thing.

I've seen some innings where the batting side struggled to last 90 min.....

Actually, getting outplayed quite a bit these days

My relatively thorough count my mathing tells me tonight we are certainly within 8-8.5k range. Sales are slow but hoping we get at least 15,000 on the day.
Domey says for Wellington games the most sales are on MD-1 and MD, but Aucklanders are less laid back and like to plan things usually a week or two in advance at least.
RR
Incredibly rough count but I reckon about 7.5k tickets sold on the Ticketmaster webby.

Thing is that she doesn't like the physical confrontation in football, if someone tries to tackle her she's all like "fine, you can have it if you're so keen". And I'm not wasting the effort I've put into teaching her to bowl lol

But she loved watching the Wāhinix at Mt Smart so I'm sure she'll enjoy Saturday no matter the result (which is more than you can say for me, lol)

There is a lot more online advertising for this game on FB and other platforms, so I am hoping that we get a good turn out.

Unfortunately I won't be there to watch this time, but I am expecting a good hard game and a 2 - 1 win.

Really looking forward to the pre-game, the during-game, and the after-game.
Hoping that Aucklanders have learned what the active zone is. Surely! (Hah, don't laugh).
Looking forward to Rufe, Kosta and Oldy setting the crowd alight.

No trains this weekend

What a surprise.

There are no trains on the Western Line this weekend because it's the West's turn for the "Rail Rebuild" treatment. But everyone knows that buses are very frequent in that part of town. No-one will be stopped from getting to the ground by PT (and you can virtually walk from town, as we found out during RWC 2011)

Doloras, excuse my ignorance of Auckland but does that mean no trains from Newmarket? That is where I have got a place for this weekend :)

Not wanting to upstage D but yes, no trains from Newmarket to Kingsland. But there'll be replacement buses running. They leave from Station exit bottom of Remuera Rd.

Phoenix no longer have a player whose mum is on the board of Auckland Transport, hence the trains not running  :-)

If you are reasonably fit, the walk from Newmarket to EP ain't that far, if a little up & down. Plus plenty of eScooters about.

Auckland City FC have an ex player on Auckland Transport's planning dep. Ian Hogg (who failed trials with the Nix I seem to recall). Hence the trains not running.

He played 3 games after signing a short term deal when the Portland Timbers cut him.

Free event bus from Britomart (by showing a match ticket). If you are catching the bus replacements from anywhere else, its the standard fares.

I doubt it unfortunately. Tickets were defaulting to yellow fever section when the others had pretty much sold out the other day, so I expect plenty of ‘oi sit down I can’t see!!!’

I don't know, looking at the sales I'd still expect 20k. They've picked back up again now and a fourth bay has been opened for sales in the southern stand. Northern stand is basically entirely sold out apart from a the away bay and other areas on the edges - and they're still selling seats on the edges because it auto-selects them on ticketmaster rather than the good seats on the southern side.

I think 20k will be fairly easily achievable if the weather is good and its currently looking like a beaut day. Lets also wait and see what this Auckland FC announcement does today and an inevitable big story on one news. 25k still possible for sure.

Weather forecast is looking okay but no trains. I would hope we can pull 20k. Less would feel like a bit of a failure tbh.

  • Seems a little ambitious don’t you think? Just counted on Ticketmaster, about 10,500 sold to my calculations. We’re really only got tonight and tomorrow and then a few more on match day.
I suppose ticket sales could go gang busters tomorrow after the current football hype at the moment.
Football is buzzing in the 09 right now.

He reffed our last game with Sydney, we were fouled over and over trying to break out of their press and he didn’t call most of it.

3 points in the bin.

Loud YF baying for SFC blood whenever they foul us should do the trick with Faghani.  He is a mercurial character. IMHO he tends to overcompensate later if he gets a decision wrong. So if the Eden Park stands let him know that he let SFC get away with murder, next time they as much as get near David Ball they'll get carded.

Actually, getting outplayed quite a bit these days
