I believe he's playing for a new deal. He's needed to up the performance level as by his own high standards, he's not been great this season. The last two games though has been more like the Rufer we know and love, long may it continue!

Yeah get that to some degree but why should he be used spareringly.Other teams seem to be able to give some of their players about the same age extended game time. Yet the Phoenix who claim to have a youth focus dont seem to want to do that with LBS. Despite him making two very good passes that have lead to goals. I for one just dont get just it, like i dont get with us needing to chase games Armiento is left on the sidelines despite scoring 5.
I agree that we should see more of LBS on the park, but I think other ALM teams simple have more young personnel options, as in: "they have more young talent to choose from". In contrast at least some of our young exciting footballing prospects do not necessarily go through the Nix Academy and if they go elsewhere they may not get signed up by the Nix at all. For every LBS there is a Jesse Randall.

I reckon Rufer has been good for most of the season - yes, has played well recently but has so for most of the season.
Before the weekend's games (I think he picked up some more points)image.png2.97 MBI think people are just viewing games differently given the emotional baggage some had linked with Chiefy.

Ryan Fraser picking up 14 points in 9 games is absurd, especially at the bottom end of the table. He must be absolutely balling.
Interesting also the team at the top of the ladder only has 1 player on that list. Just shows what can happen when you can get the players to play as a team. Hope the Jets can go all the way. Sorry Cdiddy

Felt after his injury it took him a while to get going. Just what I heard anyway. I did see someone ont twitter saying he'd spoken to them after the perth game and he'd not been offered a new deal yet.

Very weird from us if we haven't offered him a new deal, I feel like it might be more of a case he has been offered a new deal but also getting/considering offers from elsewhere and is still debating whats next. Because if he has been offered a new deal but he's got other offers elsewhere he's thinking about, he's not going to tell a Phoenix fan they've offered me a new deal but I'm considering other options too while the season is still going on.
Very much hoping we haven't seen Rufer's final game at the Cake Tin in a Nix shirt. I'd also hope we match whatever other clubs are offering for our captain and arguably most influential player - within reason. We shouldn't let another A-League club outbid us at the very least.

it wouldnt surprise me if any new deals are on pause until the new gaffer is found, or Greenacre is confirmed. With Rufer actively saying he was keen on looking at a new gig end of this season I'd also suspect the nix are biding their time.

What I understood, was that it was because the club didn't feel like he'd had a great season (this is separate to what I read on twitter). So they're holding. Now there could be a multitude of reasons, like Prof said, they could be holding until they know for certain who is managing etc, but it would be mental for the club not to offer him something. Certainly hope we match whatever is on offer when the time comes.

If this is true and we lose him because 'he had not great season' but keep the clowns in management that gave frick'n Italiano an extra season, then I'll boycott them for another year and save my money for gas.
