They normally go up a day or two after the Chiefy ones.

Valley FC til I die?

Ok, So according to your logic Chiefy wanted to get rid of Kaev, Old etc. This time last year we were top of the table. Now everyone says the same coach is a complete zero, it’s all his fault and he should be sacked. Yeah, right!
Napier Phoenix
With on field performance the buck stops with him. I’m not aware of any reporting official or otherwise that says Chiefy didn’t get what he wanted. We have given club management a burst in the past when they have deserved it.
austin111
He must be under immense pressure. Not sure I would want that job. I am disappointed that the club management are letting him take all the flack. This club has a CEO and other people involved in football management who contributed to decisions made relating to this season. Chiefly is not 100% responsible for yet another poor Nix season. He will probably be scapegoated at the end of the competition. However that won’t correct the underlying issues that need to be addressed.

I don’t know how you took such a big leap as that from my comments. Transfers out and players leaving at the end of a contract are part and parcel of football, especially at this level. It wasn’t as if the club didn't spend money on replacing them. If the replacements weren’t good enough or the. Coach can’t get a tune out of them, then by your logic its the club’s fault not the coach? Look, I think the club will keep him, I don’t think they have a desire to get rid of him. Personally, i wouldn’t sack him but I would be looking for someone else to replace him at seasons end.

Still debating whether I watch this one given a 4.30 wakeup for work on Monday. I will no doubt choose to punish myself and watch along anyway.

Don't really have any hopes for this one whatsoever. Can't recall (in recent memory anyway) having ever been feeling so ho-hum heading into a match as I do today...

Here's a stat to compound the misery too.
If you made a ladder of the league having taken out the first 5 games of the season (our best run of form with 10 points) and coupled it with last nights result in the el-crapico, we would now be sitting last on the table. I didn't realize how truly bad that was until I started looking at the numbers.

And now I just feel pissed off...

As I’ve used before , to quote an ex dons manager: “statistics are like miniskirts, show you some nice things but hide the important things”. Luckily the first five are included 😉 that said, it doesn’t even matter given our current position and lack of likelihood of making the playoffs. It’s all sharke.

I think it just shows we got our hopes up early (myself included). Usually we start the season poorly and claw it back over the long run. This time we ran our race after just getting out the starters gate. 😮‍💨

Looking too far ahead as well, but...

My decision to stay up past my 10pm bedtime on a work night will be whether we turn up and throw caution to the wind and actually attempt to play something akin to the kind of football we like to watch, not sharkball. The result is irrelevant, but I wouldn't watch a bad movie and football is entertainment.

No players put out for media is telling. Unless they haven't uploaded the video yet.

They didn't do their usual player media session at the training ground this week, but I wouldn't read anything to it. Three of them did media on Wednesday at Sky Stadium after the All Whites squad announcement and three then spoke and were available at the charity kit launch, but neither would have been filmed the way their usual media session is.

Some exciting attacking intent is what I'm hoping to see tonight - doesn't have to amount to anything, but just want to see some creativity

We know Chiefy wanted to keep Kraev, but a deal couldnt be reached ie the money being asked for was hihger than the club wanted to pay. I'm sure he wanted to keep Old and Paulsen but again the $$ on offer were too good to turn down. The players bought in were all on Chiefy - yes within a budget set by the league and the club, but he got to travel to Japan, scan the league and pick who he wanted.

In Chiefy's defence, a number of good Japanese players in ALM over the years might have been a factor in his decison to go shopping there. And on a good day Ishige can foot it with the best (I am not sure yet about Nagasawa).
But neither Ishige nor Nagasawa can offer the same physicality as Danzaki or Ibusuke, let alone Sakai (with his experience in Europe under his belt).
Combination of slight build in our Japanese newcomers, with the slight build of our home grown youngsters, and possession based football becomes problematic.   No wonder a relatively inexperienced player (Piper) looks to many of us as a game saviour, chiefly because he cannot be easily muscled out.

Actually, getting outplayed quite a bit these days

Looks like I’m guna miss the game or most of it and the AFC one too to a wedding thing.

They’re fun! A Christian priest type figure with no guilt or belief or fear required, a kind of amusement park ride/scientific management approach where you move from location to location up around and flow out a door next to where you started, where the next lot are gathering, getting ready.

That is to say, firing up! I wanna believe that we’ll win every one, but Chief’s measured realism won’t let me…maybe we’ll score a couple of good uns?
Hughes and Wootton the goals, Sheridan to keeper, Alby left wing, Kurosawa left right out, Rufer a calm captain in the middle of it all…Anyone go and watch the free Mugen Train? Shoulda woulda coulda. That’s some good value.

Come on Phoenix!

No time for persistent dickheads.
You got no idea what I’m talking about and no interest, don’t reply.
You wanna have a conversation go ahead.

its getting to the point where you actually wonder what Sheridan has on Chiefy. Ishige maybe still not completely fit? Rojas being injured again isn't a surprise though.
